Hi guys.Since giving up alcohol last Sunday,I have been feeling shattered, and have had a rotten headache for the last two days.Is this some kind of withdrawl symptoms,or just a coincidence?

p.s. I have been drinking loads of water, cups of tea, squash etc.

hi kazz, it probably is something to do with withdrawal, but I dont drink so I dont know for sure. Well done for keeping it up, I slipped last night and had 2 bars of chocolate:( I am really annoyed at myself, and I didnt even enjoy them that much either. Hope you are feeling better soon :)

Hi Pixi - you're allowed the odd slip up with your choccie's.As you said, you're not overweight and its not reallly damaging your health. But you have really cut down so well done!!

So it is an AB blog!

I think if you were quite a heavy drinker then some withdrawal symptoms are to be expected.

coldturkey

its a withdrawal symptom for sure. keep at it & after a week or so it will start to go away. its the same when you give up caffine. well done so far & keep it up!

Id say its withdrawal symptons. Smokers often feel a lot worse for not smoking for a while before their body gets used to it.

Its not nice at all but please please dont give up. It may take a while but its worth it in the long term.

sounds like withdrawal... just tell yourself it's no worse than a hangover. Keep up the water intake. Good luck!
thats so true redcrx, everytime I have tried to stop smoking I have gotten the worst cough ever and I have a friend who gets boils all over every time she tries to stop smoking :(
It's just withdrawal and it does go away ( although thaty's not much help to you now).I had this when I gave up and since quitting years ago have felt much much better. It is worth it.You're doing really well, keep it up:)

Go for a nice walk into your local town, Kazzianne. Amble along the riverside and watch the ducklings. It will help you to feel better. In fact I might do just that myself later on with the dogs. The sun is trying it's best today. Take care ................;o)xxxxx

Hi kaz - stick at it - its only a little headache - probably had them before? Lots of water is good and this will flush the system too, and get some fresh fruit in you - don't start picking at sweets etc.

Alcohol is a complex chemical and if you take it away from the body, as it is addictive, there are feelings like you say, but your'e doing fine....

Octavius - am I allowed an AB blog then? Is that ok? lol
Of course Kazz.
