i have always wanted to have my teeth sorted and when my husband got some redundancy a few years back, that was going to be my "treat".
Anyway, after discussion with my dentist, i decided against it. She said that, apart from being VERY expensive, i would need to wear the brace for about three years and then a retainer at night for a very long time. She said that because of my age - I was about 38 then, after a couple of years, my teeth would revert back to how they were!! Mt teeth aren't very crooked at all and resigned myself to keeping them as they are. But I was gutted.
Have a talk to your dentist/orthodontist. I hope that what mine said isn't true, and that you find a way to have it done successfully. x
Hiya lynbrown,
Basically you are never too old for orthodontics, however there are many other factors to consider. Also there may be a more appropriate way to camoflauge the appearance of your teeth without the need for orthodontics. It would certainly be a good idea to speak to a dentist about it, but it would likely be a long process and be rather expensive. Oh and unless you are talking about braces behind the teeth (lingual braces) then they will be noticable. Lingual braces have the advantage that you can't see them. However they are way more expensive, more diificult for the orthodontist to use, less predictable results and more uncomfortable to wear.
