Is it alright if I make up my 5 a day fruit and veg by having 2 apples and 3 bananas a day? I eat alot of bananas for energy as I go to the gym every night after work. I know I should try for more variety though.

Think you have kinda answered your own question! But if it is what you like and you are more likely to stick to it, I would not change. You are missing out though, I couldnt live without strawberries and cherries at the moment.
The problem is the apples and bananas are very high in fructose, which is a form of sugar.

Apples can have an adverse affect on your teeth as they are very acidic.

You are not getting much vitamin A or K which are found mainly in vegetables.

Two portions of veg as well would be excellent.

err... you do realise you are actually only having 2 of your 5 a day, it doesnt work like that. A sidesalad will fill out one. How about a mango, straberries and raspberries with some natural frozen yoghurt as a smoothie in the am. Then if you have veg in the evening its a bonus. I have about 9 portions of fruit and veg each day.

I am lucky if i have 3 or 4. I just don't know how to fit it all in!


Do you really eat 9 portions?!? You must be able to $hit for England!
Each portion of fruit/veg should be different (2 bananas will only count as 1 portion!). And you should aim for 2 fruit and 3 veg portions per day ideally.

Which goes to prove it's a bit of a stoopid ******* idea, really.

Seriously I do. I have a fruit smoothie for breakfast which always has 5 in. For lunch I have a green salad and a couple of tomatoes. In the evening I generally have some steamed veg. My other half doesnt eat 2 portions, he eats a lot of meat and he stinks. i have shiney hair and pretty good skin and I know its cause I get my minerals naturally.

Cheers all, they've been great. Would just like to mix it up a bit :) gotta look after the old body.

I have beautiful glossy hair and clear, soft skin too... lol...


And i don't stink.


Perhaps i don't get all my minerals but i look damn good on it!


I bet you eat healthier than my other half though purpose... its diabolical, really.


He's a fitness instructor too. In the morning he stinks. I never kiss him anymore either cause his gut is rotten.
