Right now if you're feeling fat go for a run or a long brisk walk or something-should make you feel better in the short term. If you haven't got much weight to lose in the first place you will find it harder to lose. Keep eating healthily (beware low fat foods can be higher in other baddies), and increase your exercise. Good luck!

How much exercise do yo do and do you want to lose it bad enough?

i excerse when i can as i have not got much motivation! dont get me wrong i dont sit on the couch all day i work 9-5.30 and when i get home i feel to tierd to excercis eonly a few sit ups and leg plunges !

When you REALLY feel as if you want to change, only then will you be able to.

A quick solution will not work any better than a long-term one, i'm afraid, if you are not ready to make that change.

My tip is simply to take one day at a time. I know that sounds boring, but it is working for me!

Not much motivation? How about not feeling down and overweight. You can do it. Why not try and get into a routine of doing some exercise at the same time each week for a set amount of time. i.e Monday @ 5.30, Wed @ 5.30etc. You will find this helps and you will succeed. Trust me.

Good Luck.

Before you embark on any weight loss regime you firstly need to establish if you are overweight. This is not as silly as it sounds because there are well documented reports of anorexics weighing in at under 30kg (5 stones) being disgusted with their fat bodies.

Because you feel fat it does not mean you are overweight. If you have tried many ways to lose weight but nothing works it could just be because nothing needs to. Get a health professional to assess your bodyweight before you go any further, and particularly do not try to "lose weight quickly" without professional advice.

Hi Sam. Dont despair! Even if you were to jog every day and eat fish/salad on a daily basis with fruit youd still only lose 3lbs per week or less. Remember as well that you probably wont lose any weight for the first 2 weeks of dieting.

Heres a tip for you though: throw out the weighing scales. If you stand on the scales daily or every other day, you will feel unmotivated. I havent weighed myself in 6 years! I know when I put on weight because my skirts feel a bit tighter!

teag1rl is right though. A good run twice a week will make you feel healthier and more inspired.
I work 8-4 mon-fri and still get in the gym 5 nights a week. If you feel really down about it then you have to motivate yourself to train. Try going to the gym with a training buddy who you know you can rely on to help you stick at it and give you the confidence you need. You can do it, you just need self beleive. Dont rely on the low fat stuff and snack on fruit and veg instead, drink plenty of water and eat good meals. Its summer now so you can go for walks etc. Good luck x

I have been eating wisely for nearly four months now and going out walking regularly. Today I put on my denim skirt size 18 and it fell off! Yippee!!!!!

My advice would be to get out there on these lovely summer evenings and walk. Better than any stuffy gym at this time of year. Better still if you go with a friend and have a good old chinwag. My friend and I used to meet regularly for coffee and a chat. We both needed to lose weight so we now do a three mile walk and a chat regularly. Makes walking really enjoyable.

teemcool. Sorry I wasn't criticising gyms or your advice - I just think that three miles brisk walking on a nice evening is so much better than doing the same on a treadmill in a gym.

thanks everyone!

hi sam!! i no how u feel!! i need to lose weight and have a kitchen full of supposedly low fat stuff but i also have crisps and biscuits for the kids lunches - aaaarrrgghhh!! i have no will power and am lacking in the get up and go to do anything about it! do aerobics with my mate in her lounge twice a week but i think that just about stops me putting on weight!! this weather makes me feel worse when u c 17yr olds wandering around with hardly anything on!! bet they don't look like that when they've had kids!! good luck anyway hun i hope u succeed xXx

OMG i'm not green anymore!!

Sorry to hear you are having a 'fat day'.

Tip: Go for a walk everyday if possible. Even if it's only 10 minutes (try for 20 to 30mins). If you are working - go for a walk in your lunch hour. After a month you will feel a difference. Try not to be impatient wanting a quick fix and you would be better off getting rid of all the 'low-fat' 'light' stuff and getting 'normal' food (even butter is better that all those spreads). You will probably find you start to eat less of these things because they will fill you up better.

Remember you are a beautiful person

Oh, veggibear, I do agree with you about the 'low fat' foods. Just eat less and eat more natural food. Wholemeal bread with just a little butter, loads of veg and fruit, fish, chicken and loads of water. You will feel satisfied and more healthy and you won't be hungry.

Don't deny yourself food and DON'T diet, as such (unless for medical reasons). Very, very few people who diet as such maintain their new weight and very many actually end up heavier than they were in the first place. Dieting can muck up your metabolism completely. Believe me, I know!!!

gessoo how dare you lol. No worries I totally agree with you, especially when you live on the coast like I do :)

Me too, teamcool. Great isn't it - at this time of year especially. x

Yeah I love it although I think sometimes I take it for granted. In the Summer the local council puts on live bands, comediens and other forms of entertainment in the ampitheatre down by the beach, so its a good place to chill out after a tiring run along the pier :)
Actually, I live a little bit inland so I have to drive a few miles first. Not too much of a hardship though. Was down at the sea yesterday and most weeks manage at least two long walks down at the coat.

coast!
