Superglue

Did you know that if you cut yourself (that being a deep, clean cut) you can use household superglue to patch it up?

That's precisely what hospitals use. The ingredients are practically the same but whereas a tube will set you back �2.99, a lesser amount will cost the NHS �10-�20.

It was originally discovered when trying to find a replacement for spider silk, but it proved too sticky. During WWII, it was used in spray form, but really proved most useful in Vietnam being used to hold the GIs together.

A few years ago my lad cut his head open and the hospital glued it. The nurse told me it was the same as superglue and I thought she was having me on.

She wasn't pixi. I heard this from a doctor recently! I have actually heard it before, but I never really believed it myself.

well if i had known it was true I could have saved lots of long waits at A and E and glued him back together myself lol, he was the most accident prone kid Ive ever known lol

The problem is, you'll probably end up in casualty anyway to have yourself surgically removed from all the stuff that seems to get attracted and stuck to you as soon as you even open a tube of the stuff.

ROFL @ Jenky! Yes, you would need a steady hand! And it's probably wise to stay away from cuts near the eye or mouth. Unless you have noisy kids, in which case go for it!

It is true.

I had it once, on a gash on my head, and I have to say it was rubbish! Within a day it had opened up again, so I reverted to a big sticky plaster.

Jokes aside, if it is a serious cut, don't just stick it together yourself. It needs a professional to have a look at it. If you seal it up with some dirt in it, you're going to get big trouble later.

When I was about 16, I cut my head open about an 2 inches long and I used a tiny bit of Superglue to bond the skin back and stop the blood. Everyone I tell about it never believes me but it does work as a temporary fix. I eventually had 7 stitches.

Most Chemists and Boots sell something similar to SuperGlue - I think it's called Liquid Skin or something like that. As most People have said it's probably much much more Expensive than SuperGlue, but I guess it is Safer!!
