sun allergy
28 Answers
does anyone know of anything that helps prevent sun allergy. Everytime I look at the sun i come out in a rash that looks like tiny blisters all over my face, neck, chest and shoulders! It goes after about a week, but nothing seems to stop it and it's making my life a misery. It's impossible to fully avoid the sun and it occurs even after 5 mins of exposure. Thanks!

Lots of people suffer with it ..I do and have done for years.
Try Aloe Vera gel which soothes and cools .

Hi bodders
I use Nivea factor 50.. if I am going to be in the sun for any length of time. To be honest there isn't much you can do about and believe me I have tried them all !
I have had this since I was in my twenties and am now fast approaching 60.I have had various treatments over the years...biopsies,various creams ,potions and lotions and was on tetracycline for a long time for it.

You can go on the desensitising thing but I think it has to repeated every year.
At the moment I am like you ..my arms look as if someone has beaten me up !
All I can say is ..try and stay out of the direct sunlight ..wear a 50+ factor sunblock....take cool showers and give the Aloe vera gel a try. You can get it at any health shop ...Holland and Barrett for example.Keep it in the fridge so it's nice and cold when you put it on.Completely natural and very soothing. Not sticky or greasy.
Good luck and hopefully things will cool down soon and it will clear up

By the way...I even get this in the winter on my face if the sun is very bright .Not a very nice thing to have and I do sympathize .
I am convinced it is tied up with hormones as it only started with me when I was on the pill. I never had a sign of it during pregnancy but going through the menopause it was horrendous.I looked as if I had the measles and you have to cover it up with make up.As I have got older I can cope with it .
If you get it a lot do go and see your GP though .
