No 1. Where in my post did i blame it on the press? Nowhere. I stated that given the choice, he would rather it wasn't public domain. As you should well be aware, drug abuse seriously ***** up the senses, and someone who is hooked cannot control their actions. You're not the only one to have people they love die from drug abuse stevie, but YOUR insensitivity sickens ME.
No 2. Wardie, you quote that "85% of the worlds smack comes from Afghan controlled fields". Yet the worlds governments do nothing. Does this mean they support the Taliban too?
No 3. Bands can't come to peoples attention in the first place unless they have at least some talent. It was only after the Libertines were recognised that the drug problem was noticed. Ergo, the man does have talent, as the Libertines didn't survive without him.

Firstly lining the pockets of the Taliban?! I seriously suggest you read in depth from various sources about the reasons we're at war - believe me the poppy fields has nothing to do with why 'our lads' are at war. That;s like saying we shouldn't buy anything Italian because all the money goes to the Mafia. I have friends that are 2nd Generation British from Afghan heritage and they have absolutely no link to the Taliban. Stop tarring people with the same brush.
Secondly .. some one said drug addiction isn't a choice. Erm yes it is. I had an amphetine problem at the age of 18 and it was 100% my choice to take the drug. It was also 100% my choice to get off it. simple as, as simple does

Oh im sorry i thought this was the war on terror, not the war on opium. Is this something else the government has misinformed me of? How long has Afghanistan been supplying this 85%? And how much has this supply dropped since the war began? I'm getting off the point here, what i'm trying to say is yes, the guy is hooked, but when you're an addict, you don't give a **** about other people much less yourself, but at least this guy is willing to accept he has a problem and try to do something about it. Sure, he hasnt done well at all so far, but he is still trying. How many of you out there managed to quit smoking first time round? He is a talent, he does have a drug problem, he does have a looong way to go, but for gawds sake, do you always give up on people so easily?

Getting back to your question Blyss, I think Pete gave a good interview tonight, he is cute, and I think i'm in love too ;-).
Pete may be an addict, but he does have talent and it's a shame that he gets more publicity re. his addiction now than he does for his music. And before you all jump down my throat, I've seen what drug abuse can do first hand too, but at the end of the day it is an illness, and I for one wish him all the best in overcoming his habit.

i loved the libertines, and still do, i don't really go in for celeb gossip but its hard not to hear about his brushes with the law and the press but quite frankly i don't give a ****. I will judge him on his musical output and nothing else as there is so much trashy press about him i don't think its possible to get a clear image of anything other than his tunes... so yeah hate him cos you dislike his music, but just ignore the rest, nothing he does will make some kid take smack, and if ever there was an ad for not using drugs surely its him - plus a lot of his songs were anti drug use (can't be bothered to remeber lyrics so you are just going to have to trust me lol)... anyway i'm rambling as i have been up using drugs all night so need to go.
lots of love Iggy

I totally agrre with wardminter and all the other anti doherty ABs. Also Rufio, he made the choice to become and addict or not the minute he started messing with drugs! Being and addict of any kind is not a disease it is a personal decision. An illness is something unfortunate people who don't have the choice have to suffer with.
i watched pete last night too... i thought he was cute and i think i'm in love too x x x
can't believe how narrow minded some peple are . we should only be judging him for his musical talens , wich he has lots of . his drug taking is his business .
and if peple are going too talk about his drug taking they should have some compassion . i wish him luck and am sure he will be recognised as the big talent he his in the future
