I "pulled" my neck and couldn't move my head for a couple of days. I took Ibuprofen and paracetamol. It still hurts and "pulls" further down in my back. last time I had this I went to the chiropractor who basically took me apart and made my back much worse.. it never really went away, until just now when it went again.

Does anyone have any cures or remedies for a cricked / pulled neck?

Weren't you singing the praises of alternative medecine only yesterday?

I do sympathise though because I do it all the time. I tend to find that when I pull a neck muscle I tend to hold my neck awkwardly which makes it worse and and I get into a vicious circle.

I tend to bite the bullet and wear a neck brace for a day or so (you can get them at chemists)- very unflattering and everybody asks you if you've been in an accident and has a good laugh but they support your head and give you a chance to get better.

I get Mrs Jake to rub some deep heat in (tiger balm if you want) I don't think it cures but it certainly seems to help the muscle relax.

Hi Jake-
Yes, and I am still a firm supporter of alternative medicine!! The chiropractor was quite right. He knew SO much. And tried a great deal harder than the Doctor would have done- who would only prescribe paracetamol. But right now I don't have 30 a time to start seeing him again. If I go once I will have to go again and again... you know how it is. And he will want to work on my spine first etc. Its a long process which I cannot afford at the moment. hence, searching for other remedies that people have tried!
i had this before i couldnt turn my head to the left for nearly 3 days, think its caused by a trapped nerve or something when you are sleeping, after a while it just got better by itself
Sorry? I'm confused!

Your post says the Chiropractor made your back much worse

Am I missing some deep insight into alternative medecine here?

Basically..... I have a serious long term back problem. I went to him because of my neck. He said that my neck was caused by my back problem, as they are all linked. He said I was standing, walking and generally holding myself wrong, and to put it right he would need to "undo" everything. I accepted this, and everything he said, I knew he was right. So he did that,, which was painful- and I had to wear a big velcro belt to hold my pelvis together. HOWEVER, the belt was so uncomfortable that I stopped wearing it. I stopped going back to see him cos I couldn't afford all the appointments. But I know that what he was doing was absolutely correct, and necessary. I made the decision to stop my treatment half way through, and as a result, my neck "went" again a few days ago, cos it never really got better the first time.

Got it now?

Hence, I asked on here for advice on how to make it better WITHOUT going back to the chiropractor, cos if I do, I will have to go back to square one with him- and pay loads out. I will probably have to do this anyway, at some point, but right now I am in the middle of writing a musical, and the deadline is Friday- so I just don't have time!!

I'm not saying he did a bad job- if y u re-read my post. He made my back worse because it needed to be made worse before it could "set" back in the right place.
Sounds strange to me still get well soon
