My doctor actually told me that the first contraceptive pills were supposed to be taken continuously without a break. However, it appeared women did'nt like not having a period, so they changed it to the way it is now.
As far as I am aware , you are only really supposed to have a continuation of up to two packs. In other words , you shouldn't take more than two packs with no break in between. I definitely wouldn't recommend taking 3/4 of a pill either. If part of it is missing , throw it away and take a full pill. It's the difference between falling pregnant and not. If you don't wish to get pregnant , I wouldn't take any chances. Also , if memory serves me correctly , you are ideally supposed to wait until you have taken a full pack (when using the pill for the first time) and allowed for a break in between before you take two packs together without a break. It is not recommended that you do this often either. The best thing to do to be on the safe side is to telephone your doctor and ask for some advice or alternatively , pop into your local chemist and ask the pharmacist who will be more than happy to advise you. Have a great holiday when it comes x
