If you have a noisy neighbour, but they're a tenant (not council) rather than a home-owner, who do you report to? Is there a way to find out who the landlord/owner is? I've checked Land Registry...no joy. Thanks.
You could try the Registry of Deeds, they might be able to help. Alternatively if you speak to neighbours who have lived in the street a long time they may know who the owner is. Finally, countact your borough council, they can make an enquiry under freedon of information to the Council tax/rates department and hopefully find out who the owner is (I think if it is noise pollution then the department you want is environmental health). Good luck
I've tried with Environmental Health Dept before-they're helpful, but a bit of a paper tiger when it actually comes to doing anything. I was going to approach the landlord directly-thought that be more effective.l
Thanks anyway!
Have you confronted the tenants yet? We had noisy neighbours for a while and all it took was a simple request from us to keep the noise down and the problem was solved.
In the same boat as you JT2006. It needs more than 1 complaint before council take any action. With me it`s rowdy, swearing, screaming brats from 9am to 10pm EVERY day if it`s dry. I get no peace to relax, & even have to close my window to cut the noise out. Most other neighbours are at work in the day time, so they only hear it all in the evenings.
