Here's a question for all you males out there.Having a conversation with one of your species yesterday about cheating on partners he reakons 90% of males do.
Being a girlie i think this is a bit high or am i just a bit naive.

Any statistic is unreliable as it depends on the honesty of the people asked, who is asking, why and who they are asking. For example a private investigator will tell you that 90% of people cheat on their partners.

An undeniable fact from paternity and DNA tests carried out is that 1 in 25 men in a relationship are unknowingly raising a child that is not biologically theirs.

I'm sorry but all this 'She is my soulmate and I would never dream of cheating on her'!!! Its cr@p! I am not saying this isn't how you feel now but give it time! My ex told me everyday that he loved me and I was his soulmate and the thing is.. he actually believed it! He was so against cheating and hated when his mates cheated on their girlfriends but after 5yrs together..... he cheated on me and left me! Never say never...... things change and people change!

I cheated on my previous partner but have never done so with my wife, does that mean I am in the 90% statistic mark? If so, then I would say it could be right, but then possibly also near enough the same for women.

The 60% 40% comes from a paper: Atwood & Schwartz, 2002 - Journal of Couple & Relationship Therapy.

I think it's an estimate based on the work of a number of other papers. I haven't read it but I think the majority of them are American

Here there's an figure of 25%-75% of men and 15%-60% of women.

In any case it seems pretty clear that the numbers are high but 90% seems unlikely

this is his own estimate, based on his mates and what claptrap they spout when they are showing off to each other in the pub, so should be taken with a pinch of salt.

most of the tales he will have heard from guys will be just that - tales.

we all know that most blokes make this stuff up all the time, but for some reason some other blokes will fall for it - even though they themselves make stuff up too - many don't seem to realise that if their own stories are largely false it is likely that all they mates stories are too.

90% is just wishful thinking - it is the amount that would like to cheat given half a chance
