I'd love to be able to dance but don't know where to start.. I'm 18, and have had no experience. I'd like to do street dancing or something lively like that. are dance dvd's any good? or at leisure centers how do classes work? I've always been too scared to attend! thanx x

I think you need to get down to your nightclub and see how you get on down there, a few drinks always help, and everybody else is usually so p!ssed they wont notice if you dance like a knob.

yea thats all very well, but everytime I go, everybody else looks so stupid so i'm guessing I most probably do too. I'd love to be able to just do it properly!
Ok, why not look in paper for jive or Salsa or even line dancing lessons, this will give you a good feel for rhythm, beat etc and most of all give you confidence. It will also help if you go with your boyfriend/girlfriend or just a mate.
I did street dancing what seems like ages ago. Started from 0 and worked up to a confident 1. One thing I remember is how laid back the whole thing was so trust me you have nothing to be scared of, they are not gonna ask you to do head-spins or windmills and most of the moves are your body's natural response to the beat, well at least that's how it felt to me. Go for it, you will love it, and it will do wonders to your confidence.

Dancing is a fantasic form of exercise and for me over the years has being a great form of release form stress or even upset.

Dacning is like a fire once you have lit the fire it is very hard to blow to fire out it keeps burning.

I started dancing when i was 8 which is quite late however i know people who are older than yourself to start dancing. I am a trained dancer and i have worked all over europe.

I would reccommend you ring around a few dance schools from your yellow pages (business pages if your not UK based) as you may be suprised not mant schools offer adult classes. As for dance DVD's i would stay away certainly unitll you have built your confidence because a lot of them you have to dance opposite to the screen and it can get confusing!!

Just remeber that EVERYONE has to start somewhere in every thing that we do i life so if you feel a little silly or embarassed just remeber it.

So my advice to you would be just go for it and make sure you ENJOY YOURSELF!!!!

Do you live in the UK? if so where ? as i may ba able to point you in the right direction.
