What does 'FCUK' mean then apart from being the trade mark of clothing ? Is it not a means of avoiding the obscenity robots in order to swear. Especially given the context.
You are going to have a hard job convincing me that its use is acceptable. Family site.
ray will be back, hopefully. It's too hard to stay away !

don't worry, people have been saying the same thing for years - i remember when i was new here at some point in early 2003 still people thought it was all changing for the worst and would all disintegrate (but not just cos Id arrived obviously!)
I think its in the nature of a community website to evolve and change this can be disorientating to users that begin to feel a degree of ownership for the site, a feeling can foster a good atmosphere but also this can be quite unhelpful e.g. arguing and questioning newcomers / debating the true identity of other users even though the supposed true identity is simply another nameless username / resenting the ed for various editorial decisions
So dont panic history teaches us that great civilisation do indeed fall but just not very often or very quickly (that sounded so much better in my head for some reason)

Hi Bob, cheery little soul you are today lol !
'Lying' to me carries with it definite shades of malice.
Occasionally forgetting exactly where I was born is hardly particularly harmful, or is it ? Today I have decided to be Welsh anyway, I promised myself that treat for Wednesdays.
And iggyb has spoken with great wisdom.

Teh problem is Iggy whilst I fully appreciate what you are saying and agree that in some ways you are correct, what is actually happening here is a steady decline in standards of the site which is alienating a large percentage of it's posters and bringing the Ed, who I have always stuck up for, into serious question. It's not about editorial decisions, it's about some people questioning whether or not the Ed is a troll herself or is knowingly harbouring a troll who has caused a great deal of upset to a great many people. We all know that trolls are an occupational hazard with any public forum, but they are almost universally dealt with severly by mods and editorial staff on other sites. This one is positively encouraged. I don't think that crystal guides would relish their name associated with someone who feels it's appropriate to mock someone whose just had a miscarriage and all of the other things that the SR character has done.Taken that some other people who can't remember what they said yesterday stick up for them and claim to be moderating you have to see how this appears to everyone and why certain users are leaving. It's giving the appearance that the Ed is involved or has given her blessing to this type of behaviour from a small number of posters.
It's not about feeling that anyone owns the site, it's just about what is commonly held to be decent etiquette on the majority of forums. A "common law" when dealing with trolls if you like, that here seems to be uniquely ignored.

I think it's good when the Ed pops up from time to time. I come from an era when the pink box usually meant trouble, so it's good to see a bit more of the human being. I was once a little disconcerted at some possible political bias, but the advice given in the other thread alluded to was good and sensible.
