Yes, I know there is no such thing but read on..please...... Apart from slimfast as I am not overkeen, has anyone done a quick 7-10 day strict detox/diet that actually worked. I spend most of my life trying to lose weight, in and out of diets and healthy eating of course. On this one occasion i want to lose some weight and detox quite strictly for a couple of weeks. Need a kickstart. Does anyone have anything they have tried? i.e. cabbage soup diet (poo...) or carol vordeman's detox. I would just like some ideas. Preferably no smart remarks as i can think of plenty myself thanks.....Just reccomendations please.

Atkins is a great short-term weight crash diet - you should lose (depending on your starting weight) anything between 5 and 14 pounds if you stick to it for a fortnight. I wouldn't class it as detox though as it is all protein and no carbohydrates.

My boyfriend did a diet called a Marine's diet as it was designed for Marine Commandos as their weights would fluctuate so much from being at home to being away. Its for 2 weeks, and you have to stick to it, down to the last letter and you should lose up to 2 stone in 2 weeks. It works by chemical reaction and he actually lost just over a stone and a half. Its very, very, very hard - for instance on the first day you have 3 boiled eggs for breakfast, 3 for lunch and 3 for dinner - nothing else, and you can only drink black coffee, water or pure lemon juice for the whole 2 weeks. If you think that you could do it, post back and I'll give you the details (I don't mean to underestimate you, but it really isn't easy, there's no way I could do it!) Good Luck anyway :)
hi lennon could you give me the details about the Marines diet?.
yes please i'd be interested to hear about this diet
Don't listen to Lennon folks it's only cause he own's an Army surplus store and he has loads of gas masks he wants rid of :>).....one of the best ways to lose weight is to drink at least a pint of water before you eat anything....this has two effects in that the water helps to flush out your system (we're supposed to drink 4 pints a day anyway) and it also fills the stomach so you feel less hungry and therefore eat a lot less.
you may think this a 'smart remark' It's not; The best, simplest true diet - Move more, Eat less. :-)

Long lenghty annoying response......... darth, no don't like atkins but thanks, too much fat! It works well though from waht i hear. Lennon, yes please i want it, not sure about all those eggs though, loadsa fat again. What will you do put it on this site or do you want my e-mail? sft42...thanks but if your already drinking a litre or two of water a day and your a fatty already (which i am) it makes no difference.(What i mean is your stomach is already stretched so water beofre din dins don't make much difference. However, for thinner people it does work.Thank you though. And, (am I going on???) xyzz blah blah, yep been there done it, I am doing it and yep it was a smart remark. Its called willpower, i had it once. Seem to have lost it a bit now though. There is no excuse but i wanted a kickstart that's all.........Ta

Sorry, didn't she go on!!!!
Sorry to intervene here but the only way to lose weight is to take in fewer calories than you expend. It doesn't matter if the calories are in fat, protein or carbohydrate (although a balanced diet is necessary for health) as calories are calories.

Yes geff I KNOW. THAT IS NOT WHAT I ASKED IS IT? KIN HELL, ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE IS IT.... EVER HEARD OF THE SAYING "DON'T TEACH YER GRANDMA TO SUCK EGGS"????? Thank you again to those that understood the question of "quick fix diet" not long term life changing diets! Uh?
If you can get your hands on it, Judith Wills 'Size 12 in 21 days' is quite good, it's not exactly a detox but it does help, I've lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks doing it but you must do exactly as it says including all the exercise and it also includes a section on how to go back to normal eating, it's difficult to find unfortunately. Judith Wills also has another book, 'Lose a stone in six weeks', it's something like that but it features six different diets including a detox diet and she has the story a volunteer who tried in the book.
Gef, if diets were that easy we'd all be at our optimum shape, there's more to diets then just food and the source of the calories does count.

froggequene, thank you. Someone that gets my point.
Tried the carol vordeman's detox you mentioned last year - but it was only only AFTER the first two weeks that my weight started to drop significantly.
I never stated that diets are easy. I just pointed out the obvious ie diets work because you eat fewer calories unless you believe Atkins. I still have an open mind on that.
Gef, none of us except Moogy is admitting to how much experience we have of dieting but the sensible option for long term weight loss is cutting calories, getting off one's posterior and moving it a bit more but it's not enough to say cut the calories, you need to look at what you're eating and see where you're going wrong. Regarding the Atkins Diet, my mind is firmly shut on that one, I've had friends on similar high protein diets and they've all found it very restrictive, not to mention expensive, their willpower couldn't stand up to the monotony or the side effects. Was anyone watching Diet Trials by the way?
Hi moogy, sorry for the delay-been away this weekend. Good guess stf42, but I ain't got no gas masks and this Lennon is a she not a he!! :) Urmm, am not too sure how to do this though as I could post the diet here, but it would be damn long and this seems to be a long enough thread, and you can't post email addresses on here. Aggh - what to do! What would you like me to do as I notice that Darth is interested in hearing about it too?

Hi Lennon Thanks for getting back to me. In the end i opted for the cabbage soup diet and the sacred heart diet (long story). Very faddy diets but very effective if you want to shift some a bit quick! Which is ALL i wanted!! However i would still love to have your diet to try please. Whatabout going to this website http://www.aboutcabbagesoupdiet.com/forum/ Go to "Everything else" section and i will look out for a message. I am known as "Hungry"! Only things is you'll have to register, sorry). And i will make contact with you there, i think you can e-mail from there. Sorry its a bit long winded! Thanks PS Anyone else who is interested in a quick shift a few pounds diet, that is NOT LONG TERM! Obviously!!!! go to these websites: http://www.idiet4u.com/ http://www.aboutcabbagesoupdiet.com/forum/
