Hi, Im getting married 25th August next year (2007) When do you suggest i send out the invitations as this date falls on a bank holiday. I know from experience that people like to book up their summer holidays well in advance and i want to make sure people are given warning before hand so they dont book a holiday around that time. Any suggestions? I was told prehaps 6 months before? Thanks

Hi Joanna, I'm getting married next June and have asked a number of people this question. I think normally people send out invitations three months before. But what I think you should do is send out 'Save The Date' cards as soon as possible, just so people are aware of the date.

Good luck with all of your organising!
Joanna,

Firstly, congratulations on your impending marriage. My friend recently got married and before she sent the invitations out, she sent a 'save the date' note to everyone. Very simple and it gives people plenty of warning and gives you plenty of time for sorting the invitations. Good luck with the planning!
Great idea!

I think 3 months notice is good for other times of the year, but the summer months tend to be booked up pretty early..I would go with the 'save the date' cards, or send your invitations at least 6 months in advance (I did this for my wedding).

Happy planning :o)
Again agree with the "save the date" cards or you could just let it be widely known that this is when you are getting married "we've booked the wedding for the ...." my friends let me know over sunday lunch a year in advance that they had book theirs so I just put a note in my diary.
