does anyone else think this is a lot...
3 Answers
Last week is was my cousins tenth birthday, and today she was round at my nana's and was telling us what she had gotten for her birthday which was an alarming amount of money spent on her for a tenth birthday me and my mum thought.
She got an ipod nano, scuba diving flipper things, a digital camera (can store 300 pictures!), and money.
does anyone else think this is rather a lot of money to spend on a ten year olds birthday? or do many of you out there spend this on kids birthdays?

I guess a lot of it would depend on how well off the parents are, cos I know if I were rich, I'd splash out a bit when birthdays came around too, and in which case no, I wouldn't think that was a lot.
But I'm assuming they're not rich, so yeah, I guess thats a lot for a 10 year old, but for kids these days its all about ipods and xboxes, mobile phones, cameras, quads and playstations....All of which are very expensive items. Certainly far more so than the action men, bikes and barbie-dolls of old.... And you can't get away with one pressie on your kids either, they wanna tear thru a pile of em! So inevitably, birthdays and crimbos are gonna become more and more expensive as times change and technology progresses. Imagine what people are gonna be spending in another 100 years!
Kids really don't know how lucky they are to be growing up today, pressie-wise it's the best they've ever had it (shame we can't say the same about the state of the country, but that's not for this thread!)

Yes I do think it's a lot. And what makes matters worse is that they probably don't appreciate it all very much, and the pressies will soon be outdated and collecting dust in the corner :o(
I remember what I got for my tenth birthday ~ a Sindy doll. I played with it for ages & it is still in my possession!
