Apart from kidney problems, what other causes may there be if you see visible blood in the urine?

could be an infection! can i ask why?
Question Author
ive had blood in my urine for nearlly 3 weeks, if i go to the bathroom 5 times in the day, three samples are red, i havent been to to docs yet and to be honest i wasnt intending to. i just wondered if there may be another explanation. i havent had any other sypmtoms to suggest an infection.
I put 'blood in urine' into yahoo and the first hit was this:

Look around the net and then go to your GP!!!

thanks for that fee-is-me.
Is it definitely blood ? Could it be that you've been eating something like beetroot, blackberries or rhubarb ? (though I can't imagine anyone eating these regularly for 3 weeks). Taking certain laxatives can also have this effect. Have you recently started any medication ? I think you need to go the doctor.

haha i hate beetroot, not a fan of berries so definatly nothing ive been eating. Certainly not on any medication, i dont even take paracetamol when i have migrane attacks so i cant imagine what it could be.
put a tampon in and then see if it still happens - then you can distinguish whether its coming from your bladder or or womb
