How many of your actions and knee jerk responses to life are motivated by sheer jealousy? Honest answers only please.

Got halfway through reading your adventure and whoooosh !! Well the hell did that go?

I can get pretty het up about things, but can't say all result in knee jerk responses...(well I hope not)

Have been envious a few times of people but (thankfully) never jealous...

that is actually interesting the way you differentiate between envy and jealousy, what do you think makes one different from the other?

I think I've been jealous a few times, people who are rich and have no worries but in my opinion have done nothing in their life to deserve it, usually I change my mind when I realise how disliked they are (usually for being arrogant).

I use envy to mean a desire or wish that I had perhaps the better fortune or looks of someone else...

Jealousy, I feel is a much stronger emotion through fear or resentment of someone, almost to the point of hating them because you are wanting what they have or feel (in a relationship) threatened by their presence...

Example: I am envious of Johnny Depp's wife - but I'm not jealous of her!!

Hi Dot, I think it is quite a difficult question to answer as what to one person may be jealousy, another it may simply be ambition! I can't think of anything off my head that I could own up to, apart from a couple of bitchy comments about other colleagues whom I felt needed taking down a peg or two, but then perhaps I was just jealous!!

well, it's a fine balance ttt... you wouldn't want a husband who kept you under lock and key but it'd be nice if he expressed just the mildest twinge of concern when you said you were off for tea with Brad Pitt.

i always think jealousy is a negative emotion but envy isn't.

i envy my mates new car, but i am happy for her that she has it and i wouldn't want her not to have it just so i could.
if i wanted it instead of her it would be my jealousy.

jealous poeple want what others have and hate anyone having anything more than them, but envious people wish they had those things too but are glad that their mates are happy and doing well

well there you go, ttt... a jealous husband would act as though he thought you actually had some chance of copping off with Brad... which might be the teensiest bit flattering?... whereas a non-jealous one would act as though he knew you were a complete non-starter.
