You are walking down the street, when a drunk calls you wife/partner a dirty slapper and a few other choice names. Do you give him a good slapping or just keep walking and rise above it.

The way I see it is, you could get into a fight with this person and lose, he could then turn on your wife who is now all alone and has got involved to stop you getting a beating and possibly killed, she could now be beaten up, raped, sexually assaulted or whatever.

Or if you walk on by you have a dented ego and you are both safe. I know what I will be doing!! what will you do?

I'm not a man, but fighting is hideaous. I hate violence and oddly find it quite embarrasing. You would rather be safe then sorry then beaten up with a raped wife!! If you wife was raped how could you live with yourself? Or even worse... Just walk away he's only a drunk!
From my standpoint, the BIGGER man would take his wife / partner and quickly make sure she is safely away from this situation. I agree with missR. Most women are embarrassed in such a situation and would much rather no physical or verbal abuse took place. If the husband / partner reacted by hitting the drunk, I would feel as though my man were doing it out of bravado mixed with annoyance. Whereas if he made sure I was safe, I would feel that he was protecting me, that I was his main concern.
Who cares what a drunken idiot thinks?

Ignore him.
In reality though, it would be odd for a drunken yob to be verbally abusive to a woman when there was a man present, people like that are usually cowards too.
If the fella wasn't drunk then something would have to be done. However seeing as this chap was drunk, you would be right for walking away.
I would take my wife somewhere safe, then go and find him, I could not just walk away, If that makes me less of a man then so be it, but I do not like and would not tolerate a lady being insulted like that.
Same as ray ... (glad I didn't have to type all that)
Your a star naz, I like your style , hope you are well
If anyone who is drunk insults me on the few times I go out, I just tell them to F*** o** if I have had a couple myself, I get all brave!! , not very lady like but they are usually so shocked they shut up. My other half hates me doing it and tells me not to speak like it.

I agree with Ray - I would like to think my hubby would get me out of harms way but then go back and stand up for my honour - then again - if the druken yob was of such disposition, who's to say he hasn't got a knife in one of his pockets.

Second thoughts, I'd rather we BOTH got out of harms way, safe in the knowledge that our kids had two healthy parents on their way home, and we'd left the alckie on the streets, where he belongs.
best to laugh to your self and walk on, think to your self that his wife is probabily off with another bloke ir at home in his council house looking after their 15 kids.
I'd knock him out myself!!!!!!!! No way would my hubby stand by and let him to to me like that, unless of course he was bigger than him, then he might let it go!!!
seriously though, i would rather my hubby just left it, especially this day and age, too many idiots with knives about to take the chance.
I would never think less of a man for walking away from the situation described. Personally I'd ignore the comments and walk away as I don't like 'scenes' much.
Ignore it, although not quite sure whether hubby would or not, it would depend totally on his mood, (and how many pints he'd had).
Hubby...not the drunk!! lol
I would walk away, take my bird home.....get a taxi back into town armed with my submachine gun ..hunt the fcuker down...take him down ...along with all his cheering friends
and then??
He would've got one punch bang in the face and that would've been the end of the conversation.
Sticks and Stones and all that...what`s the point in fighting and possibly end up getting knifed just because some mouthy drunk decides to call your missus a few choice names.
I would leave him to it unless it became physical, then I`d lamp him one
Personally I'd cripple him, despite having got over my anger management problems. I'd do it quite calmly as a public protection measure. The trouble with people who think they can behave like this is that other people have allowed them to in the past. If the first time this bloke tried it, someone had broken his nose and stamped his fingers into the pavement then he wouldn't do it twice, and other people wouldn't have to put up with his anti-social behaviour. I know in a lot of people's eyes that makes me violent and unpleasant, but I never pick on anyone who hasn't started with me first, so I think it's fair enough and by and large i never fight anymore.
