why are they so incredible dull as human beings?

i once worked with a consultant at my local hospital, who in his profession was known as THE best. A man highly admired for what he did... but come to common sence... oh my, he didn't have a clue!!!

It was very highly amusing even for a man of his calibre. however, a lovely lovely man.

I once knew I highly respected lawyer who drove a very old classic Jaguar in pristine condition. He was very baffled once when I mentioned the M.O.T, He had no idea what it was and when I went on talking about the price of insurance for said car, he again looked confused. Apparently, the girl at the office does all that sort of stuff!! lol

depends on what you class as intelligence -

the ability to -

remember facts and figures, parrot fashion?
to memorise things,?
to do sums?
knowing your times tables?
to do all that fancy book learning stuff?
or
to love?
to be happy?
to make others happy?
to laugh?
to see the fun in things?
to be a good person?
to let go?

i'd say to aspire to the things in the second section is rather intelligent...

One of my friends is definitely one of th most intelligent people I have ever met. He is the most fascinating guy to talk to and has such unique views on everything. He picks everything up so easily but also has this unparalleled ability to recount everything in a really intriguing fashion. I think part of why he learns things so easily is because e is just so interested in everything he encounters.
Furthermore, he witty, helpful, patient, easy-going and a real live wire.

i agree witht the gopher, there seems to be a lot of jealous people in this discussion, you cannot really be that stereotypical and paint people with broad strokes in this manner, maybe if you warm up to "intelligent people" they can be funny and interesting. Rant over.
