anyone here got any views on hypnosis?does it work? does it work for some and not for others?is there really any such thing as an hypnotic state or do people just "play along" with the hypnotist?if hypnosis is so succesful why arn't hypnotists employed by the nhs to help smokers and drug addicts who want to kick their habit ?how do you know when you are in a hypnotic trance?can anyone be hypnotised?what does a trance feel like?is it any different than a pleasant day dream?
I had it done for stopping smoking and it was expensive. It didn't work but my mate tried it for the same thing and it worked for her. As in everything I think you really must want to stop smoking to give up. I have since given up with the use of patches, 4 years now. I can't remember a thing about being hypnotised just like a short nap.
I've had hypnotherapy and it worked. I was aware of what was going on around me still, it just felt like I was dozing. I can't understand how people can be made to act like chickens etc as I still felt fully in control when hypnotised.
1-2-3 you're back in the room.....
I had hypnotic stop smoking treatment about ten years ago, and it worked for about 6 months. Don't ask me how, or why, but I lapsed and started smoking again. I don't remember any hypnotic state when he was treating me, it was just like having an ordinary chat, and it seemed as if all the info he was giving was really being ingrained in my mind.
