Sam,
are they always really bad? and often in your back? Maybe you could try a TENS machine? They are usually used for labour pains but can be used for period cramps too. You can buy them but also hire them from places like boots if you wanted to try one out
Wow thats one thing we dont have in common. I dont get bad period pains, every now and then a dull ache in back or dead bum and I just get a good back massage, failing that take 200mg ibuprofen tablets.

ouch!!! yes they are really bad and i might try your idea redcrx xxx
Have you tried a hot water bottle on the area, always works for me, usually with a couple of pain killers. Don't make the water too hot, just comfortable against the skin.

N.B. painkillers taken internally not put into hot waterbottle before anyone asks!
warpig has made a good point local heat to your lower back should help.
i think im working again?? am i ??
no dont think so LOL
thanks for your answers guys it doesnt help iv gotta sit in this uncomfy chair at work! but hey not long to go and i can get the bf give me a massage!!!
SS just dont do what i did (in labour and it still hurt) and thats accidently turn the thing on at full power lol

They work by causing your body to produce endorphins so are drug free.
I've tried everyrthing and not anything works. Since I've had my back ingury its 100 times worse. I never used to get lower back ache before then. ;( joys of beinga woman.
spanner did you try TENS?
Hi Sam

i'm suffering too :-( i've got a deep heat patch on my back have taken some iboprufen, and i'm munching a big bar of choc, the deep heat patch is working tho!
I have tried it but doesnt really work on me. Had no effect when I was in labour with my kids either. In fact nothing apart from an epidural worked so maybe I could get one of them every month..... fantastic. Portable epidural.
sounds like a great idea spanner, you can get ones that still allow you freedom to walk about a bit in labour. :)
I might be tempted to raise this as an idea. portable epidural's. So many people I know suffer every month and it sems to be getting worse rather than better. Or is it that we just moan about it more?
