One for the girls! which foundation?

Hi all! I'm quite annoyed now, because I bought the Maybeline Dream Matte mousse foundation after reading loads of good reviews about it, and it doesn't work for me at all...:-( It makes my skin all blotchy, and leaves little patches all over....not nice! I have combination skin, so need an oil-free foundation, that will keep me matte for a whole day without drying in patches or clog the pores ! I've tried several in the oil-free range but haven't found a "perfect" match yet. Any recommendations? Ta in advance!

have you tried the mousse one from avon, i reccomend it its great, i cant think of the name of it though but its not hard to miss just have a flick through the book, its only bout 5 quid!! too x

it was the same when i bought maybaline masscarere it made my eyes water all the time its anoyyin when you are charged a fortuine for products that are said to be brilliant and used by famous people and makeup artist on oscar winning film sets for them to be a load of rubbish, try writting to them they may give you your money back , i once suggested they sell small trail sizes to save spending a fortune but this was no good as it would cost to much money but in the long run cutomers then would have a better idea at what prouducts sutied them, but there you go if you ,d tried samlpe size you would not of went on to a larger one so there is a reson for them in that.

Thanks, I've had a look at the Avon website, and it's quite cheap so I can afford to try...I might give it a go over the week end!

I use the Bourjois foundation with collagen. I hate chalky foundations but want reasonable coverage. I love this one and it's quite cheap, about �10, get it at Boots. It's moisturising without being oily.

I tend to use Tesco's oil free moisteriser (in a pink tube) and then either MaxFactor Seamless or Maybelline Everfresh foundation.

I apply it with a foundation brush then blend with my fingers and apply powder with a puff then do the rest of my make up then powder lightly with a decent brush concentrating on my T Zone.

I try to blot any oil off through the day as well rather than keeping on powdering.

Morning Maximo. i have just brought the Chanel Precision Max tinted moisturiser. it goes on like a dream and has good coverage. It is pricey at �18 but when its your skin its worth spending a little bit more if you can. Alternatively the Boots No 7 foundations are really good for everyday wear. x

Hey..

I've been working as a make-up artist for a while and alot of people are saying the same thing about that dream matte mousse!!!

I think the problem with it , is that its meant to leave a matte finish.. but then its designed for "normal skin" (which is probably about 1% of all flipping women!!) so doesn't sit properly on your/our skin type!!.. If you're looking for something a little bit cheaper then I really reccomend using rimmel stay matte, or loreal matte cashmere (matte cashmere being my favourite of the two).

Another helpful tip if your skin is dry in places and oily in others, is to mix your foundation with a small pea-sized blob of oil free moisturiser... it really helps it glide over the skin more.. and leaves you with a fresher "glow" about you.. whilst still keeping the "matte" quality there!!

Also, if your applying your powder with the little "powder puff" thing you get free with it, then I'd invest in a powder brush (body shop do some amazing ones.. cheap.. but nearly the same quality as the ones from MAC woohooo!!).. doing it with the powder full makes it more cakey and visible on the surface of the skin.. it also really blocks pores.. before i knew this tip you should have seen the blackhads *shakes head with shame*..
if you use a brush and lightly tap/brush it on the areas you need it you'll stay shine free and fabulous!!!
