and then they say 'have a nice day' as you're leaving & what do you say back ? I mean 'you too' when they're stuck inside on a lovely day is hardly a genuine reply but most of them DO smile so you've done somemat right !!
when the checkout girl says,**can i pack your bags for you?**, i then reply,**thats what my wife said to me three weeks ago.** then i put on a sad expression and they invariably feel sorry for me and want to take me out for a drink!
Well if you want to put a smile on someone's face just pay them a nice compliment re eyes or hair - that makes most women feel great and should always get a smile. :o)
Ratter she'd be fully justified in poking your eye out with a carrot! heh heh heh - I know you're joking - I hope (and anyway redheads are the business!).
I'm too busy wondering what I could say to the speccy cutey customer I mentioned in my supermarket thread back in the summer to worry about talking to the checkout operator (none of them at Waitrose in Surbiton are especially eye-catching)
purchase a nice box of chocolates with your shopping and them give to them as you leave, and say it is always a pleasure to see them when you visit the shop.
