Given that many of us don't agree with how lifestyle is going in the UK, where would you emigrate to with regard to better quality of life, lack of racism, sexism and general equality that many of us strive for? I consider leaving the UK often, but then many of the other places I fantasise about living in aren't really that much better (especially with regard to sexism).

For no particular reason I'd choose Portugal at the moment.

Have no idea why as I've never been there!!
venus :-)
To the Carribean!

People are so laid back and its beautiful!

Although i would have to plan it so my house/shack was built so that it could avoid a few knocks from the passing hurricanes :o)
Wooohooo 3 stars I wasnt quite sure you'd get where I was coming from. Would sort the sexism woman are from venus, men .... :-) thanks
Cascarelli, portugal is probably fairly quiet as well as the majority of norfolk is now populated by portuguese :)
Blimey, might be easier to move to Norfolk then?!!
Never Never Land.... Not sensible I know but I always did want to go there.

And I don't remember there being any racism, sexism etc... Fair enough there was some age discrimination if you were a pirate but other than that... ;0)
Hmmm, i am quite happy living in my country and no matter how bad it gets, i will not abandon it...
I think no matter where you would emigrate they would eventually be dogged with the same problems we have here. I must admit emigrating does have more appeal now. I'd go to, in order
1. Greece
2 Australia
3. Spain
4. South of France.

Just waiting to win the Lottery so I can follow the dream now.
New Zealand - its like England 10 years ago.
lol, if only the weather were as nice.
I suppose really in reflection upon this question, we should count ourselves lucky that we in the UK have the freedom to actually do this if we so wish. But remember, the grass is always greener on the other side, especially if they have more manure to spread.
Paphos in Cyprus for us!

Our friends are in the process of having a house built in Protars, Cyprus & have just sold their beautiful home near London. They can't wait to get away from England & will be renting out there until everything's completed & they can finally move in!

If it wasn't for having to leave our two daughters & four grandchildren behind in South Bedfordshire, we'd be off tomorrow.

*Whoops, Protaras (not Protars is where our friends are moving to)!
Having said that, I agree with some of the others - no matter where you end up, there will always be something your not completely happy with.

My sister emigrated to Perth WA 30 years ago & if it wasn't for her growing family being out there, she'd move back to England tomorrow!

You can't win!

I reckon the world is amazing, and there are lots of brilliant places to holiday in, but I don't think that Portugal, Greece or the South of France are any less violent or sexist. (of course if you moved from London to Provence you'd be moving to a rural lifestyle, hence things would be quieter, and you may be exposed to more news about agricultural matters, not rape and murder, yet if you moved to Marseilles, it would be comparable to London. I think it's too easy to say you'd move somewhere else, hence why I asked this question. I find it quite maddening that you people who complain about immigrants and immigration still think leaving the UK is an answer - that's so ignorant and hypocritical.
I quite like Greece of all the places I've been to but eventually I'd like to move back home to the north of Ireland one day.
French Alps
cyprus defo, and were really thinking of going whats there here for us,for one we would be better off regards to money weathers 99% great all the time, people are great too,why stay here.
