Which would you prefer? Both my parents are buried and whilst that means it is a place to go to take plants and flowers, i hardly ever go even though it is only 3 miles away. It is a very bleak cold place. Have you ever given your final resting place a thought?

my dad was buried dorothy the only member of my family that was cremated was an uncle and having went to that it wouldnt be for me, dont like the idea of it at all but each to their own.
Definitely cremation, after my organs have been donated. I'd like to have my ashes scattered in Brighton (my favourite place)!

Morning Roberto, had to take Claire to the station, annot believe I got up this early: (

I really do go out of my way to avoid going to the Church yard and if I have to drive within eyesight of it I get abit worked up, silly old me eh?
no i would say thats normal dorothy, but the grave is just a marker your dads souls is elsewhere, i know what you mean though they can be desolate places
sorry parents

yes it's so, the bit where they are was really open and bleak, 6 years ago when Mum died and she was at the front of the rows it was worse, a whole expanse of open ground in front of her, in just 6 years there are 4 more rows in front and so when dad went last year it seemed less desolate, but still very open and windy. Cannot believe how that churchyard has filled up it is only a tiny village.
I'd like to donate my organs if possible, as so would like to be cremated. I would like my ashes to be sprinkled, but I don't know where yet, hopefully by the time my hubby / children will be thinking of doing this we will have a special place for them to be sprinkled!
same everywhere they are having to ask the farmer for use of his field next to the graveyard at my church as there is no more space, they always seem to be really cold even on a summers day as well

They have to get the ground consecrated havn't they? In a ceremony and then they fence or wall it in, I wonder how the ground changes? What makes it a Christan burial ground just by a ceremony?

Bet the farmer will make a few quid though, wonder if he gets a free plot? lol ;)
I've always said I want to be cremated, it's even in my will!! I have a fear of being buried alive so although that is a bit extreme I would still rather be burnt alive than claw at the lid of my coffin in vain!!
Neither option is particularly appealing so I'll be cremated & ashes scattered by the river not far from where I lived

I told once told my sons I wanted to be buried at sea but they decided I was too skinny to sink. So I told them to put me in concrete boots & I'd stand on the sea bed, waft about & scare the fish like those aquarium models.

More people should talk about it. My sister works as a funeral arranger & so many people have no real idea what their loved ones would have wanted.
knowing farmers he will probably charge a fortune :)
i want to be buried. i hate the thought of being cremated.
I want to be buried. I was thinking of buying a family plot so that I won't be on my own!x
we buried my mother, as per her instructions.

My dad wanted to be cremated, which was no problem. However my brother and I spent ages trying to work out what to do with the ashes. Initially we put in his arm chair which looked out of the window and into his garden. But when we came to selling the house we did not want to put anyone off so we had to find somewhere else.

We took him out for a drive in the car and eventually got to Loch Earn, we 'dumped' him in the Loch. My brother took the plastic urn home as he thought he could keep his nails and screws in it (no joke!) but he wouldn't tell his wife where he got the urn. Then he realised that he would probably come home one night to find the urn filled with pickled beetroot or something. I am not sure what he really did with the urn. The day out was like an episode of Father Ted.
