Whats your choice and why?
Also can i ask if you would have a Minister/Priest oficiating even although you dont practice?

I'll go first -Cremation -I shall be sensitive for obvious reasons. I want my ashes buried with a headstone so my family can 'visit' me.I will not go into the details of my reasons as they may upset.

I am wanting an upbeat Humanist send off with hopefully some of my family reading poems (W.H Auden) and maybe a few wee tales and then some of my favourite music foillowed by a knees up with a live band at my expense -now that is a way to go !!!

Can you tell i am re-writing my will ATM -lol

Whats your take -hey it comes to us all !!!

The 'body farms'are for forensic studies.....investigating how the body reacts to both the cause of death and how the body may have been disposed of afterwards.

That actually sounds quite scary Bez.. Are these body farms used for the murdered or anyone who dies?

No Extra cost to anyone.
Been paying my Council tax .
So why not...LOL.
Gunther von Hagens sounds the best idea to me. I don't want to be buried or cremated either. Other than Dr Gunther, I though I could go to Iceland frozen foods!

My will is already sorted too. Not sure my family (the little I have) would do any readings for me. I'm hoping they will be too upset! I like WHAuden too. You're right. There is only one thing that is certain in life and that is death.

Did you see Dr Gunther on Jonathan Ross tonight? He look rather dapper and gave Jonathan a run for his money! Night, Night. I'm off to bed now.

Sorry for not getting back to you all -spending quality time with H lol

Thank you all for your really thoughful answers -its good that we can talk about this-plus its heartening that you have given all given this thought-saves the family any added distress when you peg it !
It is amazing how many people think they are going to be eaten by worms if buried. It is a common misconception, the worms would be unable to penetrate your coffin and if they did by the time they got there the bacteria would have decomposed you already.Worms don't eat human flesh anyway.
I am seriously considering donating my body to medicine. I won't be needing it and medical students need bodies to cut up. I gather they cremate the remains afterwards.
If not then definitely cremation (humanist service) with absolutely no hymns just some poems maybe and rock music. I always said I would like Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird" played in the middle as a period of reflection. That would make the audience have to sit through a very long guitar solo and I would find that amusing.

O daffy -thats the reason i didnt post on my initial thread what my fear of being buried was -however loads appear to be like me -you are so prgmatic and I admire you for that -I still think o no what if I were buried alive and all that -like someone said I would rather burn quickly than be buried. It actually makes me feel more settled whilst in the land of the living that I know that I wont have that to worry about -daft i know

bensmum -I was recently at a friends funeral died at 52 -obviously extremely sad but since he knew he had x months to live he planned his own funeral and Freebird was played at the end of the service as he was being taken out and I am usually quite stoic at funerals but I started blubbering cos I knew he had chosen that himself -it was extremely poignant.

I love music and I love the fact that music can stir everyones emotions -loving your idea as well (getting a wee cheap laugh at them sitting there twiddling their thumbs) cos thats really whay i want -no point in being a hypocrite cos when i go to a funeral i dont sing the hymes -I feel bad but they dont mean anything to me-I am merely there to pay my last respects.Thats why I want everyone to 'enjoy' mine and for it to be a reflection of my life -with a knees up afterwards -now that makes me happy.

I hope they have a wee cry alsol -well we all want a bit of drama -dont we -lol xx
