Herbal is all well and good, use it regularlly meself, but shud still be taken under advicement! Chocolate and hot water bottles take alot of beatin if u can curl up on the couch. Sucks being a girl, eh!!
raspberry leaf tea is the thing for the womb and ovaries etc.
most health food shops will have this
also try a hot water bottle
rescue remedy to calm her
and, bizarrely, when i have had really bad pains, i have found that going on a fairground ride gets rid of them and i feel great. - this is either because of the adrenalin or the vigorous movement of the body, but as i don't get scared or over excited on rides i think it may be that the movement perhaps acts like an "internal massage"
obvious fairground rides aren't that easy to come by, but perhaps advise her to spend a few minutes jumping up and down on her bed - or something - you get the idea
she won't feel like it but believe me it works

For years I had severe depression and bad pelvic/lower back pains during my period. A nutritionist I worked with last year recommended increasing my calcium intake the week before my period, and that has helped immensely. The moods are manageable, and the pains have all but disappeared. I get the calcium mainly through yogurt, and it's working so well I now eat 6 oz. of yogurt a day.
