When does 'cute' become 'freaky' ?

I bought some Xmas cards recently and they're of little girls and a Xmas tree. I think they are borderline touching/ paedophilic. The little girls look lovely but it is very soft focus and maybe a bit flirty.... Is it the modern climate or is it just me being overly anxious? Is it like the American 'beauty pagents' where children are allegedly sexualised or can cute kids be just ....cute?

So why did you buy them then, if you feel this way about them, i'm sure they would of been vetted prior to going on display

Don't get me wrong, they're not offensive or anything like that - I bought them thinking they were sweet and nice cards. Just later when I looked at them I just got to thinking maybe the girls in the pictures were maybe a bit sexualised - as in posing next to a Xmas tree and lying on fur rugs... Just made me think they could be considered inappropriate.
its probably a marketing ploy, you know, the little sweet child by the xmas tree, they think everyone will go Ahhhh
without actually seeing the cards i cant really make a comment although i suspect its all perfectly innocent and the're just cute xmas cards.
I couldnt believe what i read here....i think its your imagination gone a bit haywire, sorry if i offend but this has annoyed me a tad......

Pedos? ?? Need to be hung drawn and quartered in my mind : (
luckyeights imagination gone haywire? i hardly think so :)
Little girls, Christmas tree, just sounds sweet to me, why do people have to see something sinister in what's obviously harmless?
Our kids run round naked in and out of the pool in the summer and someone who was visiting the house actually asked us if we'd had our gardener ( whose about 105 and a lovely old chap) vetted to make sure he wasn't a paedophile? I mean WTF??? Let's just get a grip can we?
I hardly think many people are likely to get a sexual kick out of Christmas cards, so I doubt there's anything sinister to be honest. You've seen them, only you can judge really though.
i agree, this is getting ridiculous.

it seems that merely a picture of a child is paedophilic these days

get a grip

if i was a paedophile i would get my kicks from the millions of pictures available on the internet, not from xmas cards

someone said the same sort of thing about those little charity books you used get in the 70s and 80s that had lots of pictures of smiling babies faces in, that you bought the picture and the money went to charity

utterly ridiculous

How sad that even something as innocent as Christmas cards are even thought of in this way?

My advice Lucky8? Throw them away then....if that thought's in your head (no matter how bizarrely!) then would you feel comfortable sending them out?

Play it safe with puppies and kittens.......mind you on 2nd thoughts................
scan the cards and then use photobucket to but it on AB so we can all decide......

Thanks for answers everyone, I probably am just over sensitive to something being misinterpreted.... Had that thought myself about putting them on photobucket.. You probably do have to see them for it to make sense. I'm not trying to say that pictures of children are automatically paedophilic and sexualised - I just read an article recently about children in 'beauty pageants' and it just started freaking me out - whoever suggested throwing them out is probably right. I am now traumatised that ppl are thinking that i am a pedo. Oh dear. I like the idea of going with kittens. :) Thanks. Sorry if this question upset people. It was just a genuine inquiry. I remember when newsreader Julia Sommerville was interrogated for taking pictures of her children in the bath - she was suspected of exploiting them. How sad that this is the way society is. Maybe it's the side effect of the awareness of child abuse having its profile raised.
luckyeight, it is a sign of modern life that your thought even crossed your mind.

It is so simple to be popular - just describe in graphic detail to the mob what you would do to criminals and paediatricians. Every one a winner, makes the ladies knickers wet, true heroes all. Combine this with baying political correctness, and you'll see where Britain isn't going.
