In your opinion is it wrong to give your dog expensive treats and toys when there are people starving in the world? Seriously now!

Of course it isn't. If people didn't buy treats for their pets, the starving people won't get fed any better, they will still go hungry.

Nope, it aint wrong, we have 3 gorgeous labradors, they get treats and toys...I don't feel guilty...If I could giv all the poor/starving people treats etc, I would!!

Treats and toys don't have to be expensive. A dog should only be given them as a reward, and even only then if it is on a properly regulated and healthy diet.

Pets are (or at least should be) part of the family so it's natural human behaviour to want to treat and spoil the people and pets you love. Pet treats and toys aren't very expensive in my experience. Rather than look to deny our poor pets any treats in life, perhaps we should donate to good causes the money that we would otherwise spend on clothes, alcohol, luxury food, nice cars etc etc? This is more likely to help alleviate suffering than denying your dog a bone!

By all means give it a biscuit, or a ball to play with, but if you are talking about diamond encrusted collars and leads, then yes it's morally wrong from my personal perspective, but it's your money, you were given it/earned it so do as your morals tell you to.

Of course its not wrong! you just carry on and spoil him rotten. If you feel guilty then give a few quid to a charity each month!

Treat your dog and enjoy your dog's company. If you have a few pennies left over and wish to donate elsewhere then do so. Just remember always that charity begins at home. Don't deprive your companion of a treat or feel guilty that four legs living with you is better off than two legs elsewhere. A pet becomes part of your family and as a family you may give what you have left over to share with another but don't ever feel guilty that your family - two or four legged- come first.
My dog eats well - my loose change I put in a pot as my dog's "bone money". Every year we empty and change the coins into notes. I get Xmas cards and small presents with my dogs bone money and the residue I give to the RSPCA. Whatever my dog needs (a coat or new collar) there is always a residue in coins and that I give to charity. I don't feel guilty and the dog lives well and I am sure does not feel guilty.

At the end of the day, you can't save the world.you can only do your best.dogs bring enjoyment to many people.it's been proven that people with pets are less prone to succumbing to stress etc.People feel good buying things for their pets- it can only be a positive thing.

I am really surprised by your answers! I have come into a bit of money and have started having a bit too much of an extravigant lifestyle but even though I can be mean and I do have a conscience and just feel really bad for spending do much on my dog.He is lovely though

Our old Jack Russell gets a pressie for Xmas. When we had our other dog they both used to have a doggie stocking but when our old Duchess died our little Toby would'nt accept his stocking so he has just has some doggie chocs now. He cant be bothered with his toys anymore,he's too old. I've never felt guilty,our pet's are part of our family.

not wrong at all. my fudge gets the best of everythings as he is part of the family and my baby boy. its not gonna stop people starving. bob geldof has raised millions for the past 20 years, and people are still starving to death.
