Today my little brother was taken to A&E because his daycarer shut his thumb in the door (accidently), and his nail has come off. At the hospital, the nurse said it's likely his thumb nail will never grow back.

I'm now worried that when he starts school he will be bullied because of it. Is this likely?

you could always get some false nails, trim it to fit, and glue it on.

you can get very convincing ones these days.
My mum who is a podiatrist says that it sounds like a load of rubbish what you have been told & it will grow back.
And i wouldnt worry about him being bullied, it will probably grow back and at the moment he's at a young age so it wont matter for the minute while its growing back that he wont have one if that makes sense!
hope he is okay, it should grow back though.
I ran my middle finger over with a skateboard & my nail came off & then it grew back no problem.
