What makes you happy?

When you are feeling a bit fed up, what do you think of to put a smile on your face - apart from the obvious? (This has probably been asked a million times but I can't access 'search' at the moment.)

Yeah there was a scientific investigation a good few years back about the effect cats or other 'cuddle-able' pets have on stress levels and happiness. The test was done on GCSE pupils leading up to and during exam, half of which had cats and half did not. I cant remember the exact results, but those with cats were a lot less stressed and happier overall, that those without. Cats are great :o)
sft42 & smudge, now that would be stating the obvious - but there might be a little clue in the following...! My wonderful husband and our two beautiful daughters (that we thought we would never have), my family, my cat who I have had for over 14 years and, well, erm, memories of our honeymoon......
When I feel a bit fed up I think of the termoil that must be going on in the space between the ears our beloved leader. That not only makes me smile I actually laugh out loud. What then depresses me even further is the thought that we are actually paying him for making such an arse of the job, and we will also be left paying for the mess that he eventually leaves behind.
Giving a present (doesn't have to be big or expensive) to a loved one or friend and seeing their genuine delight when they open the wrapping. Watching our eldest dancing while my husband plays his guitar and our youngest giggling at them both. I know it all sounds slushy and sentimental but that's me. (Even though you may have the impression I'm just a stressed-out Mum!!) I was once stuck in a traffic jam and was people-watching. I noticed a couple in their 80's (approximately) who were looking in a shop window. They were holding hands but also rubbing their thumbs together. I admit, it made me cry, there & then, right in the middle of the traffic jam!!!!
