Fashion Show collection theme.. any ideas?
14 Answers
After christmas I get my new assignment (missjef you'll be doing this if you do fashion), and basically I have to make a collection of clothes to be showcased on a catwalk.
It has to be themed but I have no idea what my theme is going to be.. anybody have any ideas?
I would like something interesting and original where I can do lots of research and get loads of inspiration from.. but for the past year I've had mega brain blockage and just can't think of anything...
Any help?? thanx x

Maybe even make your catwalk into a speakeasy theme with a jazz piano player and tables for the models to sit on after they've paraded.
Lots of gorgeous beads which are so in now and maybe modernise it a bit for the modern party girl look with flapper dresses over footless tights and pumps and such.
Cute hats and T Bar shoes were in. You could use lots of pretty beading and chiffons and such.
You could do a chic gangster style for the men.

You could even link it to films set in the 20's and try and recreate bits in the catwalk such as Bugsy Malone.
Will try and think of some more, in fact i'll post a Q in films and see what comes up and will post the link here for you as i'm quite interested to see too :)
Think...
Louise Brooks, Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, Claudette Colbert, Ginger Rogers, Katharine Hepburn, Rudolph Valentino, Cary Grant and Clark Gable.

Aww jenna I'm so sorry to tell you this as you've gone through all this to find that information for me, but I've just completed a project on 1920's, here's my final design:

hehe, and here's the outcome:

I had to modernise it abit, hence the hood of the fur coat (which I'm SO proud of!), and the dress is strapless :D
Also sam, I've completed a 60's project too as I would have loved to do that.
Someone suggested doing a circus theme.. sounds interesting, andone have any input on that??

How about the 1930's? there was quite a few chic looking ladies & gents around then.
60's 70's 80's are a bit too weird and have been done recently. You could always focus on a country abroad their traditional dress and add your own sense of style to it.
eg the Germans, Spanish or even Aboriginal clothing or even the Chinese style.

I'm not too keen on the whole decade/era thing now as I've already completed assignments for that, but the traditional clothing thing sounded interesting, I'll have a look into different cultures... although, I did an assignment on folklore.. that covered all of that.. damn it! lol this is stupid!!
Did you all like my outfit??

How about a winterwonderland theme, although i guess after christmas it may be a lil out of season.
You could do a country theme with lots of boots, tweeds and faux furs and such. Maybe even a bringing the country into the office with tweed skirts and waist clinching jackets and pretty puff blouses and such.

How about colour therapy/chakra theme? Clothes to benefit the soul so to speak.

Match the meaning/benefit of each colour to the style of outfit eg...
Red if courage and confidence so a red power feminine but powerful dress to kill dress suit.
Blue - peaceful and calm eg a flowing silk nightdress and gown.
Or do a selection of evening dresses in different colours.
