Looks are always a bonus but I would seriously say personality. He could be Johnny Depp but if he doesn't make me laugh my socks off and I have nothing to talk to him about, there's no point.

well i think that for that....INITIAL attraction, to get talking etc... it has to be a little bit of pysical attraction, but on the whole, no i agree with hellibobs, its gotta be personality and fantastic sense of humour EVERYTIME i would rather be stuck in a lift with Peter Kay than David Beckham (ps i dont think DB is good looking but had to choose someone to compere) only shallow girls will go for good lookimg shallow men, having said that......... you have to then turn the question on yourself????

I have to agree; if your sense of humour agrees with mine then you're onto a winner, which is much the same as most women. But i got a bonus with my man because hes good lookin and makes me laugh! x

I don't think it's quite as simple as an either or scenario. Neither Johnny Vegas or Bill Bailey are considered attractive, but they are both funny. I would date Bill Bailey, but not Johnny Vegas. George Clooney and Brad Pitt are both attractive and humorous, apparently, but I think George Clooney has lost that certain something he had in his ER days. Fussy moo aren't I?

Looks are important in the very beginning otherwise what is the point of physical attraction, but once you start talking to them, if they are dull as dishwater after a while then time to walk away..lol.

I think that if you dont fancy someone physically straight away, it is still possible to gradually fall for them if you get on well with them. But basically, most couples work if each partner is of a similar level of attractiveness (if that is a word!) :-)

Most certainly personality even on the first meeting. Can't be doing with men who are gorgeous but have nothing intelligent to say. Looks change as we get older. Some men are gorgeous when young and then it is all down hill! Others are not so handsome when young but as they grow older develop character and look great! So character, sense of humour, integrity and a generous heart are far more important in a man than his looks.
