Your memory is in your brain - it gets damaged you get amnesia - people lose their long term and short term memory, they don't recognise their friends their family they don't recall where they were born or anything about their lives.

So what are we saying here - some one gets a bump on the head and loses all this and then they die and it all comes magically flooding back?

Somebody becomes mentally ill and then they die and their facaulties are magically restored to how they were at a critical moment before their illness?

And then there's the question of where this soul comes from, does a newborn baby get a soul put into it at birth? where does this soul come from?

When you think about it the whole concept starts to sound like some ancient tribal superstition.

It always interests me. Believers believe, end of, as the saying goes. But why does it *so much* irritate non-believers who feel a mission to convert the believers ? Are you maybe wondering if there is something there..... There's nothing there, so stop trying.

I don't believe, as I have never witnessed anything to make me believe. I have lost a few close members of my family, but none of them have made contact, and I think they would have if they were able!
I'm actually quite shocked about the amount of non believers on this site.

I'm not knocking anyone, each to their own, live and let live. I was just brought up believing and only knew one atheist before joining here.

Nobody could convince me that there isn't a god.
ummmmm, I hope nobody will try to convince you!

I am rather surprised that their are so many believers, lol

i was always bought up as an atheist, but always thought there must be more to life, than meets the eye, now i just believe there is, i have experianced kharma, on many occasions to know there is
God is a problem, makes demands we cannot meet even though we know they are right.

I could not respond to crete's question about taking in a homeless person for a meal and a bed, because I was ashamed of what my answer would have had to be. We all know what is right, yet we can't attain it.

It's more comfortable to hide behind science and logic and ridicule.
your right whiffey, but god is not the problem, religion is, or the few men who dictate what they think their god, demands of its followers, i can think think of a few religions where its leaders live in splendour whilst it followers live in poverty
Kwicky - Yes, these clairvoyants; mediums, shamans are dangerous. Some are charlatans whilst others "Get in touch..." but wuth what? An entity that is clever beyond our imagination, and totally evil, able to impersonate to the Nth degree every characteristic of the dead person. The game is deceit.
The Bible warns of this and forbids contact with such necromancers.
Yes, I believe in life after death.
The Bible starts with, "In the beginning, God created ......", but those that don't believe this, cannot explain where all of this "stuff" come from.
I agree...Theland.

As human beings...in my humble opinion...we are just too complex for it to be a big bang or whatever scientific spin people try to put on it. We have so many emotions and feelings. How could it be anything else but God.

PS. I'm not looking for an argument

OH MY GOD!!! dont start theland off again, we will be here all week on this thread!!! LOL

Hi theland!! ;-)

Sorry, used his name in vain there, didn't I.
Mr. Ratter Sir, you interrrupted me, I was just wrapping you prezzie.
My daughter just had a baby yesterday, a girl, (Maisie Evelyn), her 3rd child, so I'm in a really great mood. I just held her tonight. Lovely. Did she evolve from an ape? Well, my son in law and I have our differences, but I wouldn't call him an ape! Ah, the miracle of life!
Congrats Theland
Theland, without getting to deeply into all this again!!

You say that non believers never explain where all this comes from!!
I beg to differ!!
Believers say it all come from god.
Non believers say it all happened by evolution.

I think that is about as comprehensive as your answer!!

Theland, congratulations by the way!!
O.K. if evolution began with the big bang, that produced matter, energy, space and time, then there must have been "Nothing" from which it came. Not an energy field, not a liitle bit of something, not light, not anything - "Nothing"

So, using logic and reason, how?

Ummmmm & Ratter15 - Thanks, I'm dead chuffed!
