I am talking a LOT of money. Do you mind telling me how much you lose a week Mr Ben. My money has been lost to a boyfriend with a gambling addiction.
It's not a lot now I suppose but I a friend of mine went to pick up a car for another friend with 2000 in his pocket, when he got there the money was gone must have fallen out of his pocket or something, anyway he had to borrow 2K and picked up the car and to this day the guy never knew. Now that's a true mate!

What would others do in this situation?
My Dad lost loads gambling

I'm hoping there might be someone out there who has done something similar to me, but I guess there arent many people that stupid!
Depends liquidspace. sometimes about 5 or 6 hundred. other times just a couple of hundred. I am not addicted tho. I only go in on saturdays
Oh, to loosehead, the reason he had no money when he got there to pick the car up was because he nipped in the bookies on the way there...

MrBen - you sometimes lose 500 in a week?
You obviously get paid weekly.
Guess you find you lose far more than you win.
My boyfriend loses around this much, he blew 500 on Monday lunchtime. He drew me in and talked me round and I have lost tens of thousands.

You might want to give these guys a call. That is an awful lot of money to be ultimatley wasting.

Hope they can help you. x
I only spend it if i have it. I get paid monthly. i won 5 grand on the lottery tho last month...but its running out now :(
Yes, I have. My ex has disappeared with 60k of my house sale. It is a very difficult and complicated case.
Can you prove he's gambled your money away and have him done for theft?
May be worth you seeking legal advice.
Oh but liquidspace, sometimes i win. And when i win i win big. About 14 hundred and upwards. So its swings and roundabouts really, but as you say more often than not, i end up out of pocket. I am not addicted, i know when to walk away and i only do it out of boredom...

I am not a gambler, I gave him the money. Im too nice and he saw me coming.
I want to know how to deal with something like that, how you get your head round it, knowing you have mucked your life up.
Yes, was foolish enough to put some hard earned cash into a Technology PEP just before the dot.com crash. Will never follow the popular trends again as even though years have passed my money is still only worth a tiny fraction of its original value.
Liquidspace. You must be really gutted and I guess the reality of this is that if somebody has an addiction that bad, they will not recover from it, and you will not regain any of your money. since they will be too deeply in debt. The only thing you can do is learn from one of life's really hard lessons, split with your boyfriend and move on. And never, ever loan money to anybody again. If there's the slightest chance of recovering any of your money through legal means without incurring high legal costs in the process, go for it. But psycologically this may keep you living in the present when the only way forward is to make a clean break, both with him and the reality of losing your money.
If you're with a gambler, get shut quick, otherwise you are in for a life of misery
I had about 17K with Equitable Life - not a fortune compared to some and I was young enough for it not to wreck my life.

Don't get the gambling thing though - probably just as well

Thanks Wendy,

There is no getting my money back thru legal channels unfortunately as he is bankrupt, and he would say he didnt make me do it, he threatened me with that last night. He also told me that if I didnt go and get a loan for between 500-1k to cover xmas then there was no point me staying in the place we are over xmas, I should go elsewhere as I wasnt welcome! He said I wasnt "pulling together" with him and he thought I was in it for the long haul, etc etc.
You need to sit down and think hard about why are you with him, and what you are getting out if the relationship, and is it really worth continuing with it.

From hearing what you have said he is obviously thinking about himself a lot.
