Presents for my 11 yr old nephew

This is really awkward... i've bought him the 1st two Adrian Mole books already but it doesn't look like very much.... maybe I could add some Asterix books?

Its just that all his mates are into exspensive labelled clothes (!!! :C) and not toys, and I don't want to get him clothes or computer games, and his parents are getting all his exspensive sports stuff....

Something fun and creative....

Its such a shame that kids grow up far too quickly these days!!!!!!

He doesnt need lots of books cos how boring is that - hes eleven ! He will read these books but not over xmas for sure and so they will just be at the bottom of the pile. Get him something like a DVD or tickets for you and him to go to the cinema together.

I have far too many nieces and nephews to be concerned about what each want, so rather callously, I divide the into the 'older ones' and the 'younger ones' . Needless to say the older ones get all the same and the younger ones get the same as each other with mild variances for boyish or girlish things.

The older ones - are those in secondary school, and as boring as it sounds, they prefer some cash in an envelelope. I have given up on trying to buy 'something they would like/use' as it is annually self-defeatist. So the money lets them waste it on whatever they want, be it fags, hootch or CDs/DVDs.

The younger ones get a few 'littler' presents such as an annual, some cash and a surprise funny/silly present.

Ergo, Christmas is still a balls ache and you can't please all the people all the time.

Buy him a globe lamp or an Atlas of the world. . Call me old fashioned but when I was a kid I loved Atlases and globes. I used to spend hours just looking at different countries.

I naturally went to work in a cartographic field, but I still look at Atlases. But nowadays I view socio-economic and political divides as opposed to just the countries
