Alone on New years Eve?

Hi, my ex has just phoned to ask if he can keep the kids tonight....he has had them since yesterday morning and took them to a [his] family party last night. I asked him if this was because they would be doing anything special, he said no, although there had been talk of taking them to London [not going because of the weather]. So....am I right to want them home? I will be on my own [sob sob] otherwise. What would you do? He has his fiancee and her kids to spend the evening with....am I being selfish? I want them home!

Its a very natural thing for a Mum to want her children home again, do you suspect something is happening outside of your control? I don't know your situation, but do you suspect something is wrong

If not why not let the children stay with their Dad and go out and enjoy new year with some mates!!!

Awwww well if they're not doing anything special then just ring him and have a chat with him, maybe say you've organised something special for them and cos you anticipated them being with you you have no other plans and would be on your own otherwise.

Alternatively, is there anyway you could all spend it together?

Hi, no I don't think anything is wrong he's just being his normal self....and thinking only of himself. He already knows I won't be going anywhere as I was supposed to have them home tonight. Oh well...seeing as I have told him if it's that important for him to have them he can....looks like it'll be me, a few Johhny Depp dvd's and many a large vodka.

i can see your point, but also his point. Its also a very natural thing for a dad to want their kids around too, not just the mum. i would imagine that if you are their primary carer you most likely spend the majority of the time with them. Tonight is only one night.

....and then they came back!!!! He phoned 2 hours ago.....he now has the chance to go out.....ummmm....maybe I'm not the selfish one after all....lol
