stitches...:-(

Hi! Just back from having a small cyst removed and the doc gave me 4 stitches. I'm gonna spare you the shaking like a leaf part - needle phobia- and come out with my question.. It is now starting to hurt a bit, and as it is in an "awkward" place (inner thigh), I find it difficult to walk or sit down properly. Now, I'm thinking of having a glass or two of wine to calm my nerves. Is it ok or am I likely to worsen the bleeding? Also, can i take paracetamol for the pain? And finally, just how strong are stitches? Are they likely to rip (shudder..) if I sit down too fast, for example? Much grateful for answers, as I've never had stitches before and am feeling very sorry for myself! :-(

They should be OK on your inner thigh.....Dont know about the wine though, although I would have had the glasses of wine then asked the question just in case someone said I shouldnt drink it....then id say whoopsie....too late
Hi max,
1. Your stitches should not rip or tear unless you do something extremely strenous, so I wouldn't worry unduly on that score.
2. Is it still bleeding? 1 - 2 glasses of wine should not adversely affect the your bodies coagulation functions.
3. Paracetamol should probably help with the pain - just bear in mind that you dont want to overdo either pain killers or alcohol when taking them together.
Yippee max....drink the wine!!!!!

Thank you guys! I've actually opened the bottle already....well, I'm seeing it as a bit of pampering....:-P
I don't know if it is still bleeding, because it's covered in a big dressing and I've been too chicken to have a look yet!

I'm such a wuss really, I've been walking around the house like a 90 year old, and trying to perfect the art of sitting on only one buttock....lol Thank god I'm alone right now!
Could be a new olympic sport Max, with you as our prospective Gold medaller..... One Buttock Balancing! :)
