Modern day razor blades
6 Answers
After several years of receiving these new 4 blade all-singing all-dancing the-best-a-man-can-get razors for Christmas I've decided to go back to using my trusty Gillete Contour 2 blade razor. Does anyone find the new 4 blade razors clog very easily and go blunt after just a couple of shaves?

Primarily of course it is not a shaving issue but a symptom of the brutal competition in the razor blade business. They seem to have got the themselves into the shaving equivalent of an "arms race", 4 blades is just ridiculous, I have'nt used one but I imagine they do clog and go blunt, even my own Mach 3 seems a little silly, I think the there is some merit in the twin blades. One thing that is annoying is the mach 3 blades are almost 1 each but they do last a week for me at least. I also have an old twin blade in my travel bag and if I'm honest that works just as well and the blades are very cheap so as I write this I too am seriously considering going back to my old Gillett twin blade.
There was an article in my newspaper yesterday about male grooming. I was astounded to find some men are spending up to 30 a pot for shaving gels. etc. I buy Tesco own brand, 29 pence for ten which are perfectly adequate with any cheap soap and I easily get a fortnights use out of one blade. They do clog but this is easily rectified by banging it on the side of the washbasin. I assume the expensive blades have this problem as well.
