It's no wonder your daughter won't take your advice, really ~ you appear to be rather pedantic.

' i still think he is too young for a cot '

You can think what you like ~ it's still your daughters decision :o)

In future you might think again about posting on a public forum. If you think we have told you off like a 'naughty schoolchild' then move on..nothing to be seen here.

as i said before i wasnt asking about the argument but advice about the cot. if id have wanted advice about the row i would have asked for it
Question Author
in fact it wasnt even an arguement it was a discussion
Well maybe you should have picked the word for your Q more carefully ~ most ABers pick up on all subjects contained within the Q, and quite often short answers don't give a proper reply.

By 'too young for a cot' ~ did you mean 'too old'?
A kid can go in a cot or a bed at any age, I have a 10 month old that sleeps in a normal single bed, it's up the the parents when they think it's suitable, and the reason you're arguing with your daughter over this is because you're clearly argumentative!
Hello Pip, you've got another one I see :)
I think they follow me around, nox...*sigh*

How you doing, buddy? xx
The mind boggles......
My youngest is 22 months too and he is still in his cot. I am thinkg about transferring him to a bed but I keep putting it off. My other two were in a bed at 18 months and 17 months but Sam is more of a little monkey and will climb out of his bed that has double sided bedguards on it. he still wants to be in his cot when I ask him too.

oh pippa you are so funny,NOT
Question Author
regardless of whether it was arguing or discussing the question was "at what age do you think he should go in a cot,", and not why are we arguing, how many more times do i need to say it
I'm slightly concerned now- mines 22 months old and still in a cot bed (with the rails still on). Should I be thinking about taking the rails off?

:-(
No BOO......when you feel he/she is ready then take them off. I had to put my youngest in a bed under the age of 1 because he could climb out of his cot.
lol, ta ummmm, she doesn't attempt to climb out, just stands there and rattles the crap out of the bars. Think I'll give it bit longer then, especially with it being a cot bed and bigger than an actual cot.
i dont see y u r arguing wit ur daughter abt it? ..... simply pick her up out of the cot and put her in bed, pack away the cot so she has nowere else to sleep but the bed ... prob solved, how hard was that?
namie!!!

She can't do that. Regardless of how she feels, ultimately it's the daughters decision and hers alone when the child goes in a cot.
gina, maybe you should just watch what info you put on a question in future. Anything that you put in your questions can be called upon when someone answers, as youve seen. I can accept that you didnt want the arguing to come into it but you now know for future reference :)

As for the question, it looks like from what youve answered that many mums would be putting baby into a bed at that stage.
My eldest son was out of his cot and in a big bed by the age of one due to the fact that he had started to climb out. My 3 year old son only went into his bed from his cot a year ago. I knew he wasnt ready and was still very happy where he was, so i didnt see the point in changing until he was ready. They are all different and there is no wrong or right age to do it.
I think i know where gina siis coming from with the mother daughter thing though, Mums always give advice and sometimes daughters dont accept that. pippa is quite right, it is entirelly the daughters decision but as her Mum, gina is just having her say, quite normal, maybe just worded wrong on this question.
I wasn't intending to be funny, actually.

Not only are you a pedant, you also seem quite immature to be a grandma..very argumentative too.

It's a shame.
my son is 17 months and i wouldnt dream of putting him in a bed yet as he thinks it is funny to dive off head first
