We have a Blackbird visiting our garden which seems incapable of closing it's beak. It is a male, so that spoils that argument. Seriously though it is in good condition, but seems to have trouble picking food up whilst managing to eat some of the food we put out.
Any ideas?

Its obviously lasted from at least last spring so its obviously eating enough to keep alive. Unless its as a result of a recent injury in which case its not really likely to last long. Dont know if its likely to be able to breed in that its going to be difficult to do the nest building bit and it may well affect its singing ability and therefore hold a territory. Theres not a lot to be done- nature can be cruel but its survival of the fittest.
We had a male blackbird visit our garden. One of his feet was bent back up his leg, it looked like he was standing on his knee. He came for about 4 years. Now we have a blackbird with a white tail visiting.

Somebody posted a link to a site about "Gapeworm" but it seems to have been zapped.
Thank you whoever it was, that seems to be the problem. We'll just have to let nature take it's course.
