I'm a catering assistant (posh name for working in a cafe on industrial estate). I do counter work, serving, washing up, stock control and generally help where needed - including some cooking & making sandwiches etc. The cafe is owned by my brother and I've only been working there for 5 months - there's only me and him working together and thankfully we get on well. I LOVE IT ! what a change from my previous job, I worked as an office manager in a freight forwarder & warehousing. Was there for 24 years and decided to quit last August, due to stress and depression (thats what the job did to me in my final months there). I was so glad to get out of that job... when my brother came to the rescue with a job offer, one he thought I never do. I did and don't regret a single day since. Its less money, less hours and loads less stress !!! but happiness is what counts, it don't pay the bills but I've adjusted my life to it now and can honestly say i don't regret it. If you're really not happy in your job; think of your sanity and get the hell out of there...you'll be surprised how much happier you can be.
