I was off work for six months last year due to depression, and I barely cope nowadays. Every day is a struggle, but I have to keep going for my familys' sake as I am the breadwinner. I feel like packing it all in, and staying home, but that is not an option.
Yes, your GP and medication will help to some limited degree, but somewhere, inside yourself, you have to find the strength to go on.
If you are young and have health, and no major money worries, then you have to discriminate between depression, and simply just feeling low because you had a bad bank statement for example.
A normal healthy life does not involve peristent "Highs" and you have to be mature enough to realise this. Depression is far more acute than feeling down in the doldrums at times.
