Double beds for children.

Just seen on Eastenders that annoying little brat, Ben, having a double bed at his age.

I had a fairly large bedroom as a child but only ever had a single bed. Then at boarding school, I was confined to a single. University halls, had a single. And to add insult to injury, most, though not all, Offcers quarters had single beds.

Is this a sign of the times insofar as parents are now giving kids double beds.

As far as I can recall I was not given the option as a child. Does this mean my mother didn't love me?

I had a sinfle bed at my parents home until I was 18 (with a period of bunkbeds with my brother) and left for university. I then had a single bed in halls, and and the 2 houses that I lived in for the next 3 years. Then I travelled for a year, staying in dorms and bunk beds, and ended up back atmy parents in the flaming single bed again.
Only when i moved out and got a job did I manage to treat myself to a double, and that was at age 22.
Not only did my parents not love me, but God clearly didn't.
LOL @ Supernick! :o)

I also had a single bed until I was 18, when I saved up and bought my own king size (best purchase I ever made!). I loved having my single bed when I was younger, it was cosy and meant there was more space to play with my toys and games in my room.

I can't see why a child would need a double.
Hihi, I never had a double bed until I moved into my first own flat at 26.
I don't see the point of children having double beds, but I suppose, that's up to the parents to decide...
Anyone who gives their child a double bed doesnt love them enough, a single bed and you cant love them at all surely??

Only a king-sized four poster will do for my little princess, and she is already 6 weeks old.
Why is this question staying at the top?

Is it because Wardy is special and all past misdemeanors have been forgiven?

i had a single bed up until about 3 years ago when i was 18 , but my bf has always had a double bed which he shared with his older brother nowadays my boyfriend tends to share with me lol
Being from a large family I was years sharing a double bed with my siblings. At least 3 or 4 of us in it and a couple more if the cousins were visiting. It wasnt until I moved out that I had a bed to myself for the first time.
I gave my son a double bed around 14 as his feet were hanging over the end of his single one.
Good question ummmm, obviously Wardy has influence..........
Double beds are practical - you don't have to buy about three different beds for your child! My girl always had one, even as a babe! (I do think your mum loves you, just times have changed...)
Personally, I was in a single bed until well into my 20s. Wasn't until I moved in with the good wife at 26 that I got to see what I'd been missing out on all those years (and I don't mean the hanky panky!). Sharing a bed should be an olympic sport. Whoever has most of the sheet or is the warmest after 7 hours wins.

As for little OBonio, I can't see us getting her a double bed. There simply isn't the room in our 3 bed for one (except mumy and daddy's room).
I had a double bed in my room from when I was about 14.

My mum insisted that I share it with the dog - a bullmastiff cross GSD - I got very little space. He snored quite loudly. It was like having a giant electric blanket. Smelled badly though. I loved that dog - dead 19 years.

Eventually I left home, but missed the dog so much he had to come too.

Share a double with two cats at present. I get the little bit of space in the middle of the bed.
Some of you are maddd ... "i'll wait till my childs in secondary school" i wish my mam had that attitude! I'm 17 and still have a single bed!
What's a bed ;-)
Just to buck the trend here i had a three-quarter size bed which was about 4feet wide.
with it was a brilliant feather mattress and i just used to sink down in it, never got cold in that bed even in the winter when the ice was on the inside of the windows ...lol..
.
Then at age 17 we moved to a 3 bed semi, i had the poky (for k see x) little box room which meant no more comfy bed but a dreaded single aaahhhhggggg!!!! Things were never the same after that.. i still miss that bed even after all these years..
Oh! by the way.... i'm sure your Mother loved you joe...
I'm 16, and I have a king size bed.... I guess parents make up there love in different ways. =]
