Double beds for children.
51 Answers
Just seen on Eastenders that annoying little brat, Ben, having a double bed at his age.
I had a fairly large bedroom as a child but only ever had a single bed. Then at boarding school, I was confined to a single. University halls, had a single. And to add insult to injury, most, though not all, Offcers quarters had single beds.
Is this a sign of the times insofar as parents are now giving kids double beds.
As far as I can recall I was not given the option as a child. Does this mean my mother didn't love me?

But my mummy did buy me a brand new Golf Gti when I when I turned 17. I seem to recall the insurance was something like 3k then!!!
Does material possessions buy love??
I now feel all sad I had a little boys bed when it seems everyone had doubles.
Also, she didn't let me have all the Star Wars figures I wanted, or should say needed.

I think that the real reason a lot of kids have double beds is that they double up as guest rooms - when you have guests you can sling junior on a blow up bed in your room and voila, a spare room for your friends or family. Much more practical than squashing auntie Jean and Uncle Billy into Bunk Beds- only problem is trying to get kiddy type bedding in a double size for when junior gets the bed, 'though I think that manufacturers are catching on (either that or a lot of grown ups like Bart Simpson!).

Going to sound ancient now but here goes....
When i was a youngster it was the done thing to share beds- a double- with my 2 sisters when we were very young ( 3 of us within 3 years) then as we got older just me and my sister who is 13 months younger than i am..good times creeping out of bed and playing till dad shouted up to get back in bed, which we did double quick ! even though we did live in a big house and there was room for single beds the arrangement of the double was great to snuggle up and keep warm as there wasnt any such thing as central heating then : )
