Ever had something said about you that mortified you??

I went outside this evening to get my son in for a bath( he was outside playing with a small group of boys that he met last night). As I went up to them and called his name I heard one of them ask my son who I was. When he told them I was his mum one boy said at the top of his voice " God,isn't your mum fat." and then all the others started laughing and looked at me. I stood there completely stunned that:

A. He even thought that

B. A child could be so blatantly rude to an adult

And to make me feel even worse, I have been on a diet and intense exercise regime for a month, have lost 10lb and was feeling a bit more confident about myself but now I feel blooming awful.

Anybody else ever been gob-smacked by a comment??

When I met my mother-in-law for the first time, my neice who was three at the time, sat on my lap and asked as loudly as humanly possible if I "had a ninny" like her. Later during the afternoon, she pulled a bra of mine out of the clean washing pile on our bed and proceeded to prance around the living room pretending it was her hat.

More recently, on holiday a local gent said that he thought I was very pretty, because I have green eyes and because..... I AM SO BIG! I kid you not. I am a size 12/14 and 5ft8 so not exactly whoppingly mahooosive, and was feeling pretty confident in my bikini this year as well.....

Oh, and my hubby's cousin who was 14 at the time, toldme I look just like that bird off the telly when I don't straighten my hair..... Nadia from BB. Charming.

My next door neighbour patted her stomach and asked me when my baby was due...I'm not pregnant.. to which i replies "its just my belly". She then continued to say " oh but someone said you were expecting?" as if she didnt believe me. So i guess the neighbours are gosspiing about a non existent pregnancy. HA! although i was mortified and now on a diet. lol
