Lump in my throat

Approximately 2 weeks ago, a lump developed in my throat between my jaw bones. At first I thought it was just a spot but it has not gone away or reduced in size. It is about the size of a pea and is hard but does not cause me any pain. I have booked an appointment at the doctors to have it checked out but the earliest appointment I could make is two weeks away. Any ideas what it could be? Should I try and get something sooner or get down to A&E?

There should be a walk in centre at your local hospital, you can see a GP there.
