Was this childish behaviour?

I went to a toy fair last week and took my 6 year old along with me. We got to a stall which had 'Pez' items on it and as my daughter loves these we stopped to have a look.

One of the boxes was overflowing with Pez holders, and as my daughter picked one up another fell on the floor. I picked it up immediately, inspected it for damage (there was none) and put it back in the box. A second later a big beefy American woman came storming over and asked if we were buying. I relied I wasn't sure yet. She then started shouted on about how we shouldn't be touching unless we were buying etc.

I told her that she was the rudest American I had ever met (and I have met many). Her reply was that I was the rude one and that she was sick of people like me ruining her business. later on while she was distracted I put a note on her stall which read 'HEAP OF SH1T' before I left. This gave me immense satisfaction, but Mr P said I had been childish.

Anyone else resort to doing things like this in order to cleanse their soul?

Well done! I'd have done the same! Rude cow... How can she expect people to buy it if they aren't even allowed to inspect it? And with the seller being so rude!
Give us a clue Penelope, what is a Pez just so i don't have to google it lol
pmsl, youre just like me!

I wasted 45 mins waiting for an estate agent outside a house i wanted to view. The owners had gone out. After 45 mins i called agents to be told they didnt have anyone to do viewing. The appointment had been made a week previously and they had made no attempt to contact us.

So i put a note through the owners door pointing out how useless their agent was.

Have fun, Dotty :o)

You know I wouldn't have minded so much if these things were super rare, but the ones we saw I wouldn't have paid 2p for!
LOL, thanks for that pip, I am 100% with you on that, we think along the same lines, I don't think it was childish, no hold on, yes it is very childish, but also funny and very satisfying, xx
still no wiser is it a disney cartoon or something?
Hmmm, it depends how old you are i suppose...

Ruby & red ~ LOL! I know...before I left the note she was chatting with another family whose little girl was having a good old rummage..I was insensed and wanted to go up to the family and tell them to be so careful with the womans old tat in case they broke it and set the mad old cow off on a thrombosis ;o)

I think someone must have told her that you don't treat customers in that way! however I left safe in the knowledge that I had traded with many other sellers of all nationalities that day ~ and she probaby made zilch.
Personally I would say that what you did was rather silly. Conversing with Americans at any time for any reason is infantile, even if they do speak to you first. In the words of King Arthur Run Away

Candy dispensers, dotty..usually flimsy plastic with cartoon heads on the top.

I have a Peppermint Patty one.
dot, don't you remember pez dispensers ? they were like disposable lighters and a little sweet popped out of the top, you must have eaten them.

Octavius..for that I apologise.

I'm afraid I was rather abusive in that when she replied to my 'rude' comment with 'no, you are' I told her she was a typical American who had totally weak arguments!
I once spent a week in an army jail in canada, the guards made my life very uncomfortable, (as expected) but seemed to take great personal satisfaction at my discomfort, especially on my release day, when it was "do this, then you can go, do that then you can go" etc. The last thing the pair of idiots asked me to do was make them a cup of tea, so I dutifully filled the kettle up with my urine and watched them drink it with big smiles on their faces. I was like a child.

You got it in one, ray ~ very satisfying! and I guess you and I have never really grown up, eh? x

grumpii...that must have been soul cleansing..well done :o)
I fear you misinterpreted. I was inferring the childishness related to trying to have a conversation with an American, not the note you left. My post was meant to be a bit like goldy or bronzey, only made of iron.
Question Author
Yes I did catch your drift, Oct. I was apologising for speaking to the American. She was from Chicago, if that gives any clues?
Really? Was she the fat jailer one? Mama Morton?
Cleanse their soul? If there is one thing that this babyish behaviour did not do, it was to cleanse your soul - if anything it has dirtied it!

However rude the other person was, and however cheap you consider the items to have been, you should have been more careful about dropping breakables on the floor.
No, they where a pair of male p1ss heads called Taff and Pete. I still get a lot of satisfaction from the memory :)
Question Author
Headingly ~ if you had read my post carefully you would have seen that I didn't drop anything breakable on the floor. My daughter didn't either. The dispensers in the box were oveflowing, therefore if you picked one up there was bound to be others falling out.

If the dealer had been more professional and displayed them properly nobody would have to pick them up at all ~ thus avoiding any possible conflict. Indeed if the 'breakable' had broken I would have paid for it anyway..but the rude person didn't even enquire about that.

This has cleansed my soul ~ I have stated that already.
