Wow just got back from lunch, well we did touch a few nerves didn't we. Well thanks for your contributions everyone. Some observations of my own.
Triggerhippy/Curlyperm. Smokers spend at least 5 a day to inhale 600+ toxic chemicals, 100 of which are highly poisonous, because they have the will power of rocking horses, Id say "sad addict" is a very accurate description.
Triggerhippy/Doc Spock: Oh dear the old "smokers pay loads of tax" argument. Yes they do but they cost at least twice what they pay. Arrgghh I hear you scream, not true. The trouble is in the rush to justify their disgusting habit they only use some of the figures. I'll help shall I, smoking brings in 9bn, cost to the NHS about 1.5bn, but that's only DIRECT cost. The indirect cost of smoking is approx 25 billion, not just to the NHS. So I'm looking forward to a tax cut when this fould habit is finally onsigned to history.
Laurence: way to go!
